magical switchery - Edit

There is some voodoo magic witchery happening up in here. I ordered the Vegan brat picnic table, baked beans and slaw on my dog. These literal magicians somehow managed to remove my shoe and place it between a hotdog bun without my knowledge. 5 stars for the witchery switchery but only 1 star for me eating what had to be a shoe...maybe mine. Go for the tots and leave with both shoes.

Pros: lots-a-tots

Cons: Heard of day old donuts, never infinity old dogs.

so much love - Edit

I visited while in Columbus for a conference. I absolutely loved it. It's a perfect little dive bar/hot dog joint and I'd go at least once a week if I lived in Ohio. There are a ton of vegan choices, but I highly recommend trying the fried leeks with whatever dog you get.

Not Bad! - Edit

I had high expectations after looking at the menu, but I wasn't too impressed. Don't get me wrong, the food was good. But I prefer Light Life or Field Roast hot dogs over Tofurkey which is what is used here. I also noticed that there was a vegan cream cheese available for one of their specialty dogs, but there was no vegan cheddar option. Kind of disappointing but it's a great spot for vegans!

Pros: Decor , Fast Service

Cons: Sub par dogs , No vegan cheese option

Love this place! - Edit

Menu makes it very clear what is vegan/vegetarian and I would say more than half of the stuff on there has a veganized option! The Tofurkey dogs are so good that my non-veg boyfriend orders them.

Good quick eats - Edit

Was able to get veggie chili tots on a short layover while on a bus journey east. Hit the spot for what I needed at the time.

Great fast casual joint! - Edit

A small restaurant that specializes in signature hotdogs. Lots of vegan options! Besides the hotdogs, they offer a vegan chili, amazing fried leeks, and fries. This is a fun place to go with friends!

Great late night eats - Edit

If you like greasy fries and vegan hot dogs, this is your place. Awesome vibes and good food. Often surprisingly quiet on some nights; I've had some good conversations in this bar. Very similar to Cleveland's "Happy Dog."

Pros: vegan hot dogs!, open late, good location

Cons: not much food other than hot dogs

Hot dog! It's been awhile - Edit

I can't tell you the last time I ate a hot dog. I wasn't a big fan as a kid, and being lacto-ovo and then vegan, it wasn't really a craving. I found two of us needing a quick meal on a Friday evening when leaving The Book Loft in German Village. Thankfully we got right in despite the place being otherwise packed. We ate at the bar. It was delightful to have more than two or three things I wanted to eat on the menu. I got the vegan dog with salsa and fritos. When I'm in Columbus again, I think I'll get one with the vegan cream cheeze. The tater tots were good (a LOT of them!), and the service was incredibly fast. We still had 8 minutes of the original 40 left on the meter when we got back to my car.

Pros: Soooo many vegan options, Super-fast service, Close to The Book Loft

Cons: Limited seating options during peak times

Loved it - Edit

Creative weird hot dog place with so many vegan options it was hard to decide. I got the picnic table dog with fries and loved it. My husband got two of the vegan bratwurst and tater tots and has been talking about them for MONTHS (we went in October). The staff was very nice and knowledgeable. If we lived nearby we would be regulars for sure.

Pros: lots of vegan options, creative hot dogs

Cons: serves meat

dirty franks - Edit

A quirky hot dog place. There were so many different varieties of hot dog's it was hard to decide which ones to get. Most of the varieties could be done vegan with either a veggie dog or bratwurst. We tried four different kinds and they were all great. There were also some unique sides and drinks including tater totchos and a spicy slushy. There was a huge line and long wait for a table the night we were there but we were able to get our order to go. We would love to go back and try some different dogs!

Pros: Variety of vegan selections, accomodating staff, great food

Cons: no waiting space

Great vegan options, knowledgeable staff - Edit

Everything that's vegan is marked on the menu, and most veg options can be made vegan with a minor alteration. The staff is really knowledgeable, as well, so don't hesitate to ask.

Plan to wait for a table. This place is always packed full.

The vegan hot dogs here are great. Try something new.

Pros: Knowledgeable staff, Clear markings on menu

Cons: Serves meat

vegan dogs were very tasty!!! - Edit

I ordered vegan carry out this week. The dogs were tasty. I also ordered french fries. We stopped in during lunch rush and the food still came out fast and hot! I'll definitely be going back, maybe to eat in. It's small on the inside but I like the cozy bar feeling.

Pros: good food, fast service, cozy bar atmosphere

Cons: might be too loud for some folks

Great food! Great choices! - Edit

My son was the one that discovered Dirty Frank's and took me and my husband there. They had their meat choices and I had the tofurkey weiner. I have to admit as a new vegetarian I have not been impressed with the non-meat weiners available, but the tofurkey weiner was delicious! I would definitely go back there for it. I also like the fact that even though they serve meat they also have a lot of real veggie options- not just salad or fries like some restaurants. And they have a great variety of toppings. The staff was warm and friendly too. All in all I would highly recommend this place to carnivores and vegetarians alike!

Pros: good food, friendly atmosphere, good choices

Cons: parking options

Local Flair - Edit

There's something whimsical about this place. With the bar and the music, a punk vibe, it wouldn't seem like the kind of place that would cater to vegetarians. But they do. They have several types of tofu wieners to choose from (regular, veggie brats, veggie Polish sausage), and a menu full of different topping combos that could go on them. The menu is clearly labelled as to which dishes can be made vegetarian and/or vegan. You can get your veggie dog on a bun, gluten-free wrap, or lettuce wrap, or chopped into a bowl of baked beans or mac and cheese. They also have sides like french fries and onion rings...or steamed brocolli. I would not categorize the food as healthy, but it is on the healthier side of "fast food", and good when you have a craving for that kind of comfort food. Same owners as Betty's in Columbus- these folks spearhead a lot of green business initiatives. My only complaint is that it is a small restaurant/ bar and there is usually a wait, at least when we've gone between the 7pm-9pm hours.

Pros: veggie , fun environment, good value

Cons: definitely not health food, wait to get in, can get noisy
