Very tasty Vietnamese fast food

I really love the vegan Crispy Tofu sandwich and vegan Avocado Shake. This location has no seating, but you can play pinball here.

Good lunch sandwiches

Perfect for a quick bite to go if you need something filling and no time to prepare something for yourself. Good work togo meal.

Hail Yah!

Vegan bahn mi?!! Hail Yah! Ordered their vegan crispy tofu bahn mi and tofu taro gỏi cuốn (spring rolls) with peanut sauce. Bof HELLA smack. They been open for 5-6 years and NEVER knew about them. Lackin' as a San Francisco HappyCow embassador. Smh lol Total cost was a little over $20 after taxes (they had a note posted outside of raised priced like everything else). So it's "city" pricing.

Dinosaurs

I've had bánh mì from Dinosaurs on multiple occasions in San Francisco. I generally like their sandwiches, but I'm not a major fan of the crispy-ish shredded tofu. Nevertheless, this doesn't stop me from eating here on occasion. Definitely a good place to try and have something different given the way they prepare the tofu.

One of the best vegan banh mi in the city

Dinosaurs makes life easier. If there’s one near, I’ll go. I was in the area, and so I went. And since I can never decide which, I always order one of the crispy tofu banh mi and one of the roasted portobello. It is always the right decision. Also check out the other vegan options on their menu: the tofu & taro spring rolls with vegan fish sauce, the half-avocado add on, and Vietnamese iced coffee and Thai iced tea subbed with coconut condensed milk and creamer respectively.

??! Great to grab and go!

12/18/19 Update - tofu taro roll fail! Downgraded one star. I know these can be delicious, I've had them several times before. Today the tofu was horrible - not crispy, just tasted stringy and chewey. If this was my first time, I definitely would not return! But I will give them another chance, and hopefully they will work on quality control. I think they must have premade them to far ahead of time, or prepared them when the tofu was too warm? Whatever. Blech.

Previous review:
My go-to for a quick bite when I'm in the area. Tofu taro rolls are delicious, with vegan "fish" sauce. Added bonus - vegan Vietnamese style coffee.

Pros: Delicious, Fast service

Cons: Nowhere to sit/eat in, Limited vegan options, Limited hours

Cute, quick place!

The crispy tofu sandwich was so crunchy and the tofu and taro rolls were so packed! Service was fast so it is a good place to get a quick lunch. It is about 8.50 a sandwich which is pricier than normal Vietnamese sandwiches but it IS vegan.

Pros: Enough vegan options

Cons: Hard to find parking

Tiny shop with upgraded Vietnamese street food

Part of an SF chain, this location in one of SoMa's alleyways is tiny -- depending on the day you may find a few chairs or no seating available. Best way to get food is to call ahead and stop by (illegally parked) to pick it up.

Menu and quality are the same as other locations; up a level from the standard offering, they have the same basics such as banh mi sandwiches, spring rolls, fresh drinks, as other casual Vietnamese shops, but they're higher quality, more creative, with more attention to detail. And here rather than just leaving things off to make it vegan, they carry vegan fish sauce, vegan mayonnaise, and vegan condensed milk, so you can partake more fully. They also sell those things individually, along with a variety of bottled drinks.

You will pay a little more ($7-8 per sandwich rather than $4-5 at basic shops) but it's a nicer meal.

Pros: Quality food, Clear vegan labelling

Cons: No parking/seating
