DTF always delivers.

This is one of the few establishments that I’m happy to pay more because the quality is that good. I’ve eaten at over a dozen DTF’s around the world and every place has been amazing. I’m obsessed with the wood ear mushroom appetizer and the vegan spicy wontons.

Pros: Hand rolled dumplings to order , Wood ear mushroom appetizer , Red bean buns

Cons: Pricey but worth it.

Thoroughly Impressed, DTF

It's been years since I've frequented a Din Tai Fung but since I was sticking around the area for my birthday back in April, I figured why not come back and see if it still holds to its hype.

We got in line 15 minutes before opening and luckily made the first breakfast rush at 10:00. The restaurant is surprisingly large so coming here early when it opens should not present any wait issues.

Looking over the menu, I was genuinely surprised at their selection of vegan friendly items, especially with them being clearly marked. We started with the Seaweed & Beancurd Salad which was tangy and crunchy - a great way to kick off the meal. Then we went with the Green Beans and Vegan Dumplings (10 pieces) and everything was green to keep up with the entire aesthetics. The dumplings were fine and I wish they had a vegan XLB option but that will hopefully come one day.

Finally, we dug into their Spicy Sesame Noodles and even the wheat noodles were green, which really catered to the aesthetics. This was probably my favorite dish. I mean, who doesn't love a good bowl of peanutty noods?

I was impressed with how good DTF could still be for plant based eaters and would recommend it to vegans and vegetarians out there.

Pros: Excellent vegan options, Quick service

10/10 amazing experience

You need a reservation or else you will be waiting hours!
The broccoli and garlic app was so flavorful and yummy.
The sesame vegan noodles were also very tasty. Their vegan noodles are made from just egg- so cool!
The red bean buns for desert were so fluffy and flavorful. Tasted like chocolate!
Overall, the experience was wonderful. Nice staff. I do wish the portions were bigger for the price but it was so good I would go back. Definitely a must-visit place in San Jose. Can’t wait to try them again.

Food was good

Vegan options were clearly marked on both the Slip & Menu card they provide,
For dumplings & wontons there was only 1 option; but plenty of side dishes and appetizers
Side dishes: woodear mushroom, mustard greens
Entree - vegan dumplings (okayish)
Vegan noodles in sesame sauce
Other than the dumplings the rest of all the dishes were pretty good.

I love this place. Seriously, even with the few vegan options, it’s worth a visit! The vegan dumplings and vegan steam buns are liiiiiife.

Not only was the staff extremely knowledgeable about what vegan options they had to offer, they were so kind and patient assisting with our order. The restaurants as very clean with a fun atmosphere. The food was delicious! I’ve even ordered take out since then and the food was just as good!

Pros: Friendly helpful staff, Delicious food, Fun atmosphere

Cons: Serves meat, Often have to wait in lines to be seated, Needs more locations :)
