In this location they don’t really have all the vegan options like the one in Taiwan, but still happy with all the vegan options :)
And if you don’t make reservation you really can’t dine in here, very different than the one in Taiwan 🙃
My first time had it was actually in Taiwan with my mom😄my mom likes this spot, then later on my dad’s gf also took us to this spot and she likes this spot too
We had those last time in New York spot

I wanna try this next time :
招牌小菜 seaweed and beancurd salad
涼拌雲耳Wood ear mushrooms in a vinegar dressing
西蘭花 broccoli with garlic (ask before order if it’s Chinese broccoli or western, I like the Chinese one better)
菠菜 spinach with garlic (also ask first if it’s Chinese spinach )
台灣高麗菜 Taiwanese cabbage with garlic
四季豆 string bean with garlic
素擔擔麵 vegan noodles with sesame sauce
They have transparent windows and walls can see the people in the kitchen how they work
To be very honest, just that green dot on the vegan bun I had hours of conversation with my Taiwan vegan friends !! Apparently in Taiwan that vegan bun is with the red dots , so I told them it makes more sense to have green dots to mark it as vegan bun . Then they explained because the climate in Taiwan is more humid so the green dot will look like mold and hard to identify if it’s fresh so they change to red dot , so I said maybe it snows here so mold less easy to grow here so there’s no such a problem , but I’m just simply telling them that the vegan bun we have here is in green dot

Chinese Dining in Style - Edit
This is the Midtown branch of a global chain of Chinese restaurants that specialize in soup dumplings (sadly NOT vegan) and other dim sum-like dishes. I had soy noodle salad, bean curd and seaweed salad, vegan dumplings and Taiwanese cabbage and garlic. Everything - the food and the service - was excellent. The place is vast and chicly decorated, down to the red pens used by the check-in staff.
Read morePrices are on the high side: lunch for 2 with 1 non-alcoholic drink and no dessert was $100 before tipping.
Note: they have cool looking robots shuttling the take-out orders along the edge of the dining room.
Pros: Clearly marked vegan menu, Excellent quality cooking, Many vegan options

This is actually not a Chinese restaurant, this is a Taiwanese restaurant ; you can go on YouTube they have a lot of interview and google their company, their first store starts in Taiwan and it was a family business, the owner is very strict with their SOP standard operation procedures, they train their worker like Japanese spirit which is strict and discipline ; they are famous with their glass transparent kitchen which customers can see every single workers working in their kitchen. I watched their whole documentary, it was very impressive. Taiwan used to be colonized by japan. Can give a look of their documentary very inspiring

If you like soup dumpling , I will recommend tofubox, tofubox shifu is a Chinese shifu from Xi'an, which is famous with Terracotta Warriors and Horses , which is also the old capital city of China before Beijing became the capital , I talked to the shifu from tofubox , he was trained in Taiwan , he fly all the way to Taiwan and learn the chioulongbao skills with the shifu in Taiwan, but he personally is a vegan so he made his own version of the vegan chioulongbao, tofubox’s soup dumpling is a legend level , I truly highly recommended it

Vegan friendly place for pre or post-show meals in midtown - Edit
So glad another vegan-friendly restaurant opened up in midtown for pre or post-Broadway show meals. Din Tai Fung is a great addition. While they don’t have a vegan version of their Xiao Long Bao, the soup dumpling that got them famous, they have plenty of other tasty options.
Read moreHard to pick a favorite but standouts include the spicy wonton, Taiwanese cabbage with garlic, and a recent discovery, the Shanghai rice cakes. This is the type of place where you can’t go wrong with any of your choices. The dim sum order form clearly lists the vegan options, making it easy to pick out and order them. If you have any questions, the servers are friendly and knowledgeable. Despite the cavernous dining room they have to cover, they are always nearby. You can even watch the kitchen staff roll the dumplings through a glass window on one side of the floor.
Reservations open a month in advance. Make them as early as possible. This place is packed and popular and for good reason.
Pros: Vegan options clearly labeled, Staff is friendly and knowledgeable , Good for dates or a special occasion
Cons: Pricey
