Went there for lunch and had the ninja breaky and the purple burger. Both were super delicious and I wish I could try all dishes on the menu or come here again.

Although Diggers has been around since 2015, and I've visited Anglesea a few times since then, I've never managed to eat there. Partly due to their limited opening hours and also because they serve the kind of unfussy dishes I usually make at home. But if you feel like a break from cooking on your holiday, definitely head in there for a wholesome, satisfying meal.
Read morePortion sizes are pretty epic! I got the loaded burrito and had to pace myself to finish, even though I arrived hungry. They were very generous with the avocado, with lots of guacamole inside the burrito as well as fresh slices on top. Slices of sweet potato, smoky black beans, and brown rice bulked it out. Their homemade almond feta a cashew queso elevated it above the everyday.
They've also updated the interior. The cute, kooky animal mural is gone, replaced by calm blue walls and macrame wall hangings with a beachy "boho" vibe. The courtyard at the front is pleasantly rambling, and a nice shady spot to sit on a sunny day.

What bothered you? I saw you only gave 4 out of 5 stars

I don't find the menu very interesting or inventive. Like I said, they serve the kind of simple meals I'd make at home. 4/5 is still a high score. I only rate places 5/5 if I think the food is excellent.

Beautiful spot, great food - Edit
Came here with my omni partner after a long day of driving, and we were both very happy to sit down to a delicious healthy meal that tasted like home. The portion size on the Mexican potato was great and it was very tasty. There’s a fantastic selection and it was so hard to choose!

One of the best burgers ive had - Edit
Felt bad popping in just before closing due to the drive down but Anita was so lovely!!! We got the BLT tofu burger and it was so so delicious. Grabbed muffins, tim tams, mint biscuits, a japanese curry take away and all were divine!! I had planned to come back for dinner but realised Monday/Tuesday they were closed 😢 I will definitely drive back down from Melbourne for this beautiful vegan food.

Varied menu and good portions - Edit
The owner of this restaurant is super friendly and aims to provide tasty, healthy vegan meals. There is ample choice and the dishes are quite interesting at times with familiar favourites added for a good mix.
Read moreWe had a 3 course meal when we visited and left very satiated at the end. We started with a chowder, which was OK and then had a burger and a creamy pasta (carbonara I believe?).
The burger was really nice and came with chips and a lovely side salad with guacamole. The pasta dish was ok and like the chowder could have done with a bit more flavour. The chowder and pasta came with bread and pitta respectively, which could have been a little better quality (i.e. crusty roll with the chowder and a nicer bit of bread with the carbonara).
We finished our meal off with a lovely tasting and looking brownie.
I’m only giving a 4 as the dishes weren’t consistent overall in terms of flavour. Maybe we caught the flavour department on an off day though.
Pros: Good portion sizes, Varied menu, Lovely staff
Cons: Depth of flavour lacking in a couple of dishes

Beautiful whole food with a vibe - Edit
This place has a mix of food options with luscious burgers, open Buda balls that combined influences like a BLT, or a funky Mex, tortillas, nachos and a big range of deserts. The vibe is great with lots of outdoor seating and even cushions for the dog. Are you so philosophy of not cooking in oil which works surprisingly well. The range of specialty organic Lotties is astounding. This is a great venue close to the water with a huge dose of cheeriness

I dig it - Edit
We took a trip out of Melbourne on a hot day and had lunch in Anglesea, which was maybe four degrees cooler 😂 I ordered at the counter and we chose the beetroot burger and the pimped up burrito. I realised later they had QR codes at the tables for online ordering, which I definitely would’ve used if I’d known. I was a bit afraid the burger might be too beetrooty, but it was actually very nice, tasty and moist, although the fries (not wedges, which the menu stated, and which so evoked the 90s for me last time I was here) were not what they could’ve been this time. The burrito was also delicious and substantial, with the lighter ingredients of the topping/pimping and the fresher flavour out of the sauce balancing the rich bean filling. I was left feeling satisfied after the lunch, and I have a decent appetite, so kudos. This is such a gem of a cafe, a vegan business in a small town with lovely staff, which needs to be supported. I will always stop here on trips along the surf coast. #Veganuary

This is one of the best big brekkys we've ever had, vegan or not. The flavours were perfectly balanced with the sauces (almond feta & cashew queso) and the smokey mushrooms were mouth watering.😋 Every single item was incredible and came together perfectly. We'll definitely be back, 100/10. #Veganuary

The size of nacho and baked potato dish gave me a scare 😅😄 its enormous 💥 I ate less than half. I would like to see that in a small plate version! So my husband don't feel obligated to eat his dish and half of mine lol 😆😅

Divine Diggers! - Edit
We planned our jaunty trip around two places to eat - and Diggers Vegie Kitchen was first on the list! Limited opening hours meant we had to be careful to plan our visit but we were very glad the stars aligned!
Read moreLovely quaint setting with friendly staff. Full Vegan menu.
We shared a burger and a cheese toastie which surprisingly used focaccia. Both were delicious and came with very fresh salad and excellent wedges! I hadn't seen wedges in ages and these had excellent flavour and crunch.
We also shared a slice of sweet potato chocolate cake. A little expensive for the slice size but man, it was the best. And we didn't leave a crumb behind!
Definitely worth a stop if you are anywhere near this area. Keep on keeping on Diggers!
Pros: All Vegan menu, Wedges!

Sweet Home-made food - Edit
This is a very homey casual Resturant with some of the friendliest staff I’ve ever met. However, the food is dictated by their 3 course choice for that night and it is easily the kind of food any halfway decent vegan cook can make. This wouldn’t be an issue if the price for the 3 course meal wasn’t an amount you would spend at an ultra luxurious restaurant. I understand they need to keep themselves financially viable but home cooked meals in a house barley renovated to work as a resturant isn’t on that price level. I would love to visit for dinner more regularly (because the food IS healthy and the people are sweet) but for their prices I would prefer to go to a fancier venu with food I couldn’t easily cook at home.
Read morePros: Friendly staff/owners, All vegan menu, Very healthy food/comforting home cooked meals

Comfy spot - Edit
We’re traveling Aus so looking for a spot to get warm and dry in the pouring rain so happy to find this, comfortable spot. A real vegan cafe (even have vegan literature and cute animal motifs all around), not trying to to trendy just healthy bites. Had a lovely chai and mocha and shared the “BLT” all yum. Staff were happy to let me charge my laptop! thanks x

Yummy! - Edit
Cute and nicely decorated in a quirky style. Generous servings. My six year old loved her fresh apple juice and cheese toasty. My 8 year old ate up her bolognaise pie and I enjoyed the tofu burger. All our meals were served with salad and wedges. The LSD (latte, soy, dandelion) was lovely too. Quiet and a bit pricy, but worth it to find veggie did in a small town.

We visited for Sunday lunch with relatives while holidaying in the area. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and the kids were kept amused with paper and pencils while we waited for our food to arrive.
Read moreMy sister-in-law and I thoroughly enjoyed our Ninja Warriors (marinated tofu, mushrooms, tomato, sourdough, potato rosti, avocado and almond fetta) for breakfast and our smoothies and my chai latte were sublime.
