improved Deshima - Edit
I am glad Deshima has been upgraded the last years (fresher design and a bit easier to approach for people). Vegan macrobiotic food and a grocery shop (down at the restaurant). They also give cooking classes. Fully vegan these days. They have inside seating. Take-away is also possible.

Great quality products! - Edit
I stumbled upon this store recently. It is an oasis of great quality grains, sauces and other condiments as well as organic vegetables as well. I always stop by and stock up on different varieties of rice and legumes because I know that it is produced with great quality and macrobiotic standards. I also attended a cooking demonstration on wok classics which was also inspiring.

Cons: staff is not always helpful, lack of selection on some products, not a lot of vegetables

Like father, like son - Edit
In the same vein as the restaurant. Not that impressive, expensive and a little fussy. Not worth the hike out of the city centre to visit but if you are after some decent products and you happen to be in the area, then visit and make the most of it. Better city centre proximity exists.

Lots of macrobiotic stuff! - Edit
The shop is really small, but they carry some rare foods and ingredients, such as natto and nigari, as well as many other Japanese foods. So the shop is really different from all other health food stores in Amsterdam. If you like Japanese and macrobiotic cuisine - this place is for you.

Macrobiotic Paradise - Edit
The Deshima shop is situated in the basement of Europes main Macrobiotic center, the Kushi Insititute in Amsterdam. The place is an organic and macrobiotic paradise. They have every conceivable macrobiotic product you can imagine (even natto!), also a fair selection of fresh produce, many books on the topic of nutrition and macrobiotics as well as many utinsils etc ... I could go there everyday! The staff is very helpfull and also ship world wide.

Cons: Not cheap
