Edit: NOOO

Updated review: Well, this has been a depressing update. DV was one of my favorite places in Davis, but sadly they wiped almost all their breakfast options. Now it’s mostly bagels and drinks. I’ve dropped my review to 3 stars, this honestly made me a bit sad. This was such a safe space for me to get breakfast. I’ve mentally reframed the situation as viewing DV as just a cafe - rather than a restaurant. The sooner others do this the sooner you can begin healing ❤️‍🩹

Some of the reviews are mid, but I really enjoyed it! The scrambled tofu was really good, loved the veg cream cheese bagel. Also the vegan pastries were *really* solid! Service was nice and I liked the environment too.

Best cafe I’ve had in Davis so far!

Edit: they don’t seem to charge extra for vegan options anymore!

Can’t say enough good things about them, my favorite cafe in Davis ❤️

Always has a vegan option.

Very casual coffee house with a vegan stew or other option that is worth the trip. Nice outdoor seating area. Used to have a fantastic breakfast menu that included a vegan tofu scramble but those items and the breakfast menu have been recently eliminated, unfortunately. Sometimes has vegan cookies or brownies.

Pros: nice people, good coffee, decent street parking in area

Cons: limited vegan options, got rid of their fantastic breakfasts

A little disappointing

I was super excited to try this place! It was super cute with a lovely patio and friendly service, but I was disappointed with the tofu scramble. It was just blocks of tofu mixed in with the rest of the ingredients. Would have been much better if it was actually “scrambled”! The potatoes, fruit and drinks were great. However I can make a better tofu scramble at my home for a lot less $$$

Lots of vegan options

This is a nice place to grab brunch with your friends. The atmosphere is nice and comfortable. The food is good but could be better. I wish their tofu scramble wasn’t just tofu squares mixed with veggies.

Lots of vegan options

Really great hidden gem. Usually have to drive into Berkeley or further for vegan options so I’m super grateful to have found this! Basically anything on the breakfast menu can be made vegan which is awesome of them to do. I got bagel and tofu with a side of potatoes. Has a good diner taste to it, nicely seasoned, great environment!

Pros: Friendly staff, Relaxing energy

Down home comfort food, friendly, funky

They have consistently been vegan friendly. Comforting breakfast and lunch. Funky, arty, falling apart decor. On the edge of downtown. Popular with students. I took my staff here and they all really liked their dishes.

Pros: Easy to figure out what you can order.

Cons: Student oriented, so depends what you want

Great breakfast burrito

I just had a fantastic breakfast burrito with tofu, potatoes and lots of veggies. I also picked up a vegan brownie because, priorities. All their breakfast items can be made with tofu instead of eggs. It has a cute little outdoor patio too.

Pros: tofu can be subbed for eggs in all breakfasts, vegan pastries

Disappointing

I ordered Ginger Seitan (seitan strips served in a ginger chili sauce with a hint of cinnamon and Caribbean chili spice). I was served seitan and veggies in what tasted like a brutally salty sugar-soy sauce broth with a floating layer of oil. I couldn't eat it.

Most of the seating is outdoors. There are trees that block the afternoon sun, so it wasn't too hot. The vibe of the place was cool.

Staff was helpful in helping us decide what to order. However, this is an omni restaurant that serves some vegetarian and vegan items. The side salad came with a white creamy dressing and the server disappeared before I could ask if it was dairy-based. I gave it to my omni friend.

Based on the other reviews, I'd be willing to try again, perhaps for lunch, but the Ginger Seitan was the second worst meal I've had in a restaurant.

Pros: helpful staff, outdoor seating

Cons: salty

Pretty good veg*n food, fun place, nice patio.

This little funky coffee house/cafe is one of the few places in Davis where you can find vegan breakfast options. The Tofu Scramble is good, but my favorite is the tofu breakfast burrito, after breakfast (2pm) they have a good veggie sandwich too. There are a fair number of things on the menu that we haven't tried, but everything we have tried has been good, fresh, and healthy.

They often have live music and events in the evenings, the outdoor patio is nice, and it's a common place for UCD students to hang out and study.

Pros: Tasty vegan options, Fun environment, Funky/hippie vibe

Cons: For some, the Funky/hippie vibe, A little pricey
