Reviews were not exaggerating

Idk the owner had a super weird vibe and was unfriendly. And the chocolate wasn’t amazing. It was alright I suppose.

Food is alright, vegan options are marked

I can join the others. The vibe is a little bit weird. However the owner was very friendly and no one was yelling...
They had a lot of options and if you are looking for a vegan desert the vegan brownie is a good option (even so it was more a warm chocolate fudge with coconut milk than a real brownie)

Owner is despicable

Didn't even eat here as the owner was very mean to us when we were looking for a room. I'm not surprised to see in other comments that he is yelling at his staff.

Don’t trust the soy milk

I just found out that the most used Soymilk in Lao (Lactasoy) contains dairy milk. So don’t go with the cappuccino with soy or anything.

Nice vegan options, but weird vibe

Lovely local staff who made the pancake mix vegan for me. The pancakes with banana were good, but the vegan chocolate cakes were really good!😍 The vibe in the restaurant is weird as soon as the owner steps in.. He yells and is very negative, complaining. It feels like he is really degrading his staff, did not like that.

Decent food

Food was alright but very nice that they had a lot of vegan options even written on the menu. Vibe could be better.

Okay for the cake

The cakes for good but the most of the other vegan items on the menue were not available. The atmosphere wasn't great as the owner kept yelling at his staff in front of us.

The chocolate cake is amazing (especially for asia!)

I didn’t try the food as I found it a bit pricey compared with local restaurant.

The chocolate cake was really tasty and they had a bunch of other vegan cakes that looked good.

Pros: Cozy area

It’s ok

We went here twice. Although there are labelled vegan options I don’t think the staff necessarily understand and it’s difficult to make adjustments to the food/check due to limited English. The food we got was quite simple but tasty. They have vegan cake which was pretty good. They didn’t have hummus which is one of few specifically labelled vegan options. The place is a bit grubby

Good brownie and chocolate cake

Amazingly they have vegan brownie and chocolate cake on their menu. Which are pretty good and choices in Nong Khiaw are slim.
For the mains, it’s possible to get some Lao dishes made vegan but you really do need Lao speaker there to say “no egg”. Simply writing it, did not help.

Pros: Vegan cake

Cons: Hard to be understood

Vegan beware, taste buds beware

We tried to order meals with eggs and change it for tofu. They did not understand, the staff doesn't really speak English. The food itself was not very good, my plate even had a swirl of ketchup all around my fried rice, to show the level of gastronom.
Also the Pad Thai was not great either, it had a weird taste to us. We think maybe it had fish sauce or oyster sauce.

Also for the shakes, it says you can sub soy milk, but since the staff doesn't know English very well it was hard to make them understand. We're not even sure if we had cow milk or not in the end. Try to write simply if you want to change the milk something like: Soya milk

We thought that they would understand the concept, since they have some vegan things in the menu but I'm not sure they did.

Alright

They have one real vegan option, the hummus plate, but when I was there they didn't have it so I ordered the tofu sandwich without mayonnaise and cheese. It was pretty alright, the bread was sweet, soggy and quite dense, it fell apart a bit when I picked it up and we didn't get cutlery haha. I still enjoyed it though and it filled me up! All their beverages can be made with soy milk, the cappuccino tasted okay. They sell some vegan cakes which I didn't have the chance to try but they look lovely!

Pros: They sell vegan cakes

Cons: Tofu sandwich could be better

Veganised menu

The owner here is really trying to add vegan items to the menu and talked us through what items are vegan or can be made vegan. The homemade bread is delicious. We had vegetarian sandwich, baked beans with tofu and veg and the apple crumble and chocolate brownie. A lot of the desserts are already vegan. It's nice to see somewhere trying to add more vegan items to the menu.

Pros: Delicious, Lots of vegan options

Cons: Pricier than other places, If the owner isn't there, staff speak no English

Good food, but no vegan breakfast available

They have some vegan options. The food is good. We liked the hummus and the fried cashew nuts with vegetables very much. The israeli salad was also good, but we missed a dressing.

I went there also for breakfast. On the menu is no vegan breakfast available, so I asked for the muesli with coconut milk but they haven‘t.

Cons: NO VEGAN BREAKFAST
