Vegan Options! - Edit
I ordered delivery from Dee Dee Vegan Thai (part of the Sweet Basil Thai franchise) & was quite pleased with the flavors & portions for both the Tom Yum & Red Curry (both ordered with fresh tofu & with "hot" as the desired spice level). I've frequently ordered from another of their outposts (Basil Vegan Kitchen) & feel like the quality was as good, if not better, than most of my previous experiences. While it would be nice to have some differences between the menus at their various locations, I'm happy to add Dee Dee Vegan Thai to my list of late-night Thai delivery options.

Nice outdoor seating and friendly service - Edit
We enjoyed our meal here. The service was really fast and friendly, the food was good but not great, and I love that they’re open late.

Dee Dee Vegan Options - Edit
As others have said, it's not a vegan restaurant. It's just the vegan options for Ladda Thai House. With that said, the atmosphere is nice and the staff are extremely friendly, but never checked up on us to see how we were doing etc. The spring rolls were great, the Hawaiian fried rice was really good, but very oily, and the pad see ew was not good at all. Very oily, but the noodles were awful. It was like chewing wads of gum. They were just chewy globs. No idea why. I also don't like that they use american brocoli instead of gai lan, and hardly had any vegetables in the dish. I don't see myself returning. Hopefully there's some better Thai around here.

Takeout Not Recommended?? - Edit
With all the vegan Thai options in the city to compare it to, Dee Dee was just ok. The pad Thai noodles came as a congealed mass and lacked sauce. The texture could maybe be attributed to the fact that we ordered out, but the mouthfeel of the noodles themselves suggested they were simply overcooked. The fresh rolls were tasty but did not come with nearly enough peanut sauce for their size. And the som tum (papaya salad) lacked the zing this salad typically packs. Not the worst meal ever, but certainly not something I would seek out again.

Lovely meal - Edit
One of the freshest and most beautifully prepared meals I had in Portland was at Dee Dee. I had the pineapple fried rice and it was fantastic. Also, the best service I have had in a long time.

Franchise of Sweet Basil - Edit
FYI I'm pretty sure this is the same owner as Sweet Basil on Broadway. I'm not sure why, but I see this before with Thai places in Portland with a good cart. They open up a new location under a different name. I was excited to try a new all vegan Thai restaurant and I remembered Sweet Basil was closer to me so I compared their menus through their online ordering and they're identical. Even the same stock photos used.
Read moreSo if you like Sweet Basil, you'll like this place. I do like Sweet Basil though I feel their portions are sometimes on the small side. I just don't like restaurants opening up multiple locations under different names with the same menu. It feels a bit deceiving.

Excellent Thai restaurant with a huge vegan menu - Edit
This happy little restaurant is a lot larger than it initially looks and has a very impressive menu. Staff are really nice and the restaurant has a fun vibe to it.

Dee Dee Omni Thai - Edit
Despite the name, this is not a vegan restaurant. It's actually just a "vegan" section (that includes egg noodles) on the Ladda Thai House menu. I ordered Singapore Vegan Noodle, which is pan-fried rice vermicelli noodles with fresh garlic, mixed vegetables, mushroom, onions, and curry powder. It was fine, but it had a lot of cabbage, which I don't really like. Also, I would have preferred the tofu to be cut into smaller pieces.
