disappointing

That was it. Teleurstellend.

Pros: locatie, locatie

Cons: fantasieloos broodje

Lovely fall bike stop

This place is in an enormous set of parks and properties behind the University of Utrecht. The bike paths are great, and the food was delicious.

Pros: Most of the lunch options could be vegan, Excellent bread, Great fall terrace vibes

Cons: Busy, Few vegan desserts

Verrassend

Pros: Veel veganistische opties , Lokale producten , Huisgemaakt

Authentiek

Organic and local, more vegetarian than vegan

Very nice fresh and seasonal food, also regional ingredients. There is quite a lot of dishes that are vegetarian and where cheese / eggs are a main part of the dish, so a bit less suited for vegans. Overall very tasty!

Vegan is not vegan?

We ordered the vegan 'proeverij' which included bread, a small cup of soup, scones with cream and fruit, and a piece of pie. The menu stated that this "can be made vegan" and the waitress confirmed this. After we ate some of it we were not sure and asked again. The waiter checked and told us that the scones, cream, and the bread with aioli were NOT vegan, because 'it was too much of a hassle to change everything'. We then got a 'free' extra sandwich, but no apologies at all. We are very unhappy to have eaten non vegan food (and they let us pay the full 17E pp.) and don't trust this place anymore.

Pros: Location

Cons: Service, Non-vegan food was given as vegan

A bit underwhelmed

It was not so easy to find this place, and google gave two different location pins, and we arrived first at a location a couple of hundreds meters to the east.

This restaurant is located in a park, off the main road (parking is at the entrance of the park - couple of 100 meters away).

There are not really that many vegan options available. Lots of cheese dishes. Next to some dishes it is noted that they 'can be made vegan'. I inquired about the tomato mozarella dish (can be made vegan) what would come in place of the mozarella, and the answer was more lettuce, and more nuts, and maybe also some avocado.

We had a soup of the day, baba ganouche sandwich (7,5) and sandwich of the day (8,5). Nice, a bit heavy on the bread.

Very large outside terrace.
Also a counter where you can buy bread and pastry (but did not really see any vegan labelled things).

We were seated inside. The seatings were not really comfortable, and it was very loud and busy (full house). Also sheepskin over some chairs, and stuffed animals on the wall. very strange for a vegetarian restaurant.

All in all: a bit disappointed Had expected more.

Unexpected gem

We wanted to eat, but didn't want to spend too much time to get in the city, so chose this place. What a find it was! Suddenly just a bit off the highway you arrive at this organic heaven! Everything was mouthwatering, especially great are the soups and snacks. It is near to a cottage house and is a real local place with no menus or signs in English. Most of the veg is locally grown and they bake their own bread. Will definitely return.

Pros: Atmosphere, fresh air, rustic aesthetic, Delicious snack plates and soups, Just outside the city

Cons: Really none

organic fresh vegetarian/vegan food

Small restaurant in the middle of the forest, very popular with the locals. They are open for lunch and dinner in the summer and only for lunch in the winter. they have many vegan dinner options, like a curry/farinata/ salads/ home made pan out of the oven with veggies. The staff is really friendly and speaks english perfectly. they have 2 vegan pies/deserts. try out the raw vegan chocolate pie!!!! amazing!!!

Pros: lots of vegan options , organic , fresh

Cons: crowded

Nice and simple

Vegan options like fresh bread (home made) and hummus are delicious. Try the roasted nuts with herbs and salt! Great surroundings, salad options available. And visit the museum M.O.A....it's a great combo.

Pros: Atmosphere, home made stuff.

Cons: Medium to high prices.

plastic in food

Few vegan dishes. Soup and bread with humous are good. Main menus are disappointing. The falafel is OK, but it's a salad without carbs and a lot of oil. Another main menu contained a large piece of plastic! The staff did not act when we reported the plastic. No vegan cakes or other deserts.

Pros: organic, nice green location

Cons: not healthy , few vegan, plastic in food
