Must visit in Nijmegen - Edit
I’ve finally gotten around to visiting Barro Alto after the not so appealing review and photos, I’m thrilled I did. What first looks like an industrial‑style space quickly reveals a cozy, family‑friendly oasis once you step past the façade.

Inside, you’re greeted by a surprisingly cosy sitting area followed by a lush green garden. Sunlight pours over a playful tree‑play structure complete with rope climbs – a hit with kids (our friend’s little one spent hours there).
Service
The team is warm, attentive, and eager to help.
Food & drink
Although the menu doesn’t label vegan dishes, the staff are quick to point you in the right direction. We tried the avocado toast and a vegan version of the kantine bowl – both absolutely delicious. One of us even declared it “the best avocado toast I’ve ever had.”
Barro Alto presses its own slow juices on‑site. The carrot-apple‑ginger juice was refreshing.
The dessert counter looked tempting, with clear vegan and gluten‑free labels. We’ll definitely be back to sample those treats.

Puzzelen als vegan - Edit
Alles is vega en wat ze hebben is lekker, ze zeggen ook "eet je vegan, laat het ons weten!" en ze denken mee, maar er staat alsnog heel veel met kaas, ei en honing op de kaart én geen logootjes of iets vegan is of niet.

Nice lunchroom (but the cars...) - Edit
I had here the sandwich currychicken. They also have a garden. A bit disappointing are the cars parked in front of the store. This is a no-meat lunchroom. They didn't have the roze koeken here but they do have vegan pastry.
