A good pantry supply store.... - Edit
We like to visit Davis Trading when in Palmerston North. They have a lot of cooking/baking ingredients that can be hard to source in regular supermarkets and they have a decent selection of interesting tofu & noodle variants. Nothing too exciting as a retail space but good prices & good variety of shelf stock.... Worth checking out.

Good place for pantry staples - Edit
This place is primarily geared to sell to the hospitality industry, but do sell to the public. A great place to pick up pantry staples in bulk, such as beans (tinned or dry), rice, etc. Also stocks a fair amount of ethnic and international food ingredients.
