First, for Davis this is hands down the best place I could find for vegan groceries. So if your question is what’s the best in Davis, it’s this. With that said, let me share some more thoughts and what to expect:

- several amazing vegan baked goods from the bakery
- basic vegan food (vcheese, vmilk, meats) is solid
- Sandwiches that they make have some solid vegan options
Cons:
- their premade cold meals when you walk in are pretty bad for vegans. Most of the vegan items are just simple ingredients like beets or veggies, not full meals. I’ve found myself wishing they had a quick vegan meal to grab and go multiple times, and am consistently disappointed. There’s a veggie wrap, as much as I love veggies….I don’t love just eating straight veggies for an entire meal
- Frozen section I wasn’t impressed with. Very expensive, but this is the situation everywhere. So most grocery stores will have this problem.
Overall love it! Staff are generally super friendly too

Vegan options for days - Edit
Love a local co op, especially when they have many vegan options. Multiple vegan options on the made-to-order sandwich menu. We had the vegan ham bagel which was so good. Lots of cool vegan products throughout as well as cool personal products. A gem of a grocery for Davis! (Plus free stickers!)

Lots of vegan options! - Edit
We actually went to try the vegan crispy chicken sandwich but they were out of the chicken. 😕 Luckily the alternative sandwiches we got were very good. We had the beet Rueben and the full hippie…while both were good, the full hippie was the winner! We then chased those with a breakfast burrito and a vegan cookie! Everything was good!

Friendly staff and customers, lots of our favorite vegan items, and a homey feel to it. They have Jokers/Mahalo/Twilight candy bars!!!!!!! The vegan baked goods are not very good though - dry and bland.

Best groceries in town - Edit
I visit Davis regularly from Portland and I’m always surprised at the limited selection of healthy, organic, vegan, and fresh groceries! This place is the exception. I love it here!!

I love the Co-op! It’s so easy to shop zero waste. They allow you to use your own containers to buy from their expansive bulk section. You just have to weigh them in the scales in the bulk area and write the tare weight on a piece of tape and stick it on the container. Just put T= whatever the weight is. They also provide paper bags to use in the bulk section instead of plastic. The produce is always fresh, local, and delicious! They have SO many vegan options and are constantly adding more. You can also request they add specific products. Their bakery makes a decent amount of vegan goods and they recently started selling their store made vegan steak!! The workers are always so friendly and the service is great! I love that there are compost and divided recycling bins outside the entrance.

This is such a great co-op. Very clean, good sized, with lots of vegetarian and vegan items. Good produce section with lots of organics, large bulk section, and they even have tofu in bulk!

The Davis Food Co-op has lots of vegan options in the deli, including expanded vegan options for their awesome sandwiches. They are good about listing ingredients in the deli and the hot food bar.

Fun to look around - Edit
The Davis Co-op is a staple in the Davis community. The atmosphere is fun and down-to-earth. The premade deli items are delicious (tofu salads, lasagna, etc) and I'd recommend it for a picnic or to-go lunch. There is a nice selection of specialty items but overall it's a bit too pricey to do a majority of grocery shopping.
