The Only Vegan Ramen in Sendai! Worth Waiting Until 3 PM - Edit
I’ve only found one place that serves a vegan ramen — だし廊-BUSHI (Dashiro Bushi) in Sendai downtown. (If you know any other spots, please recommend them to me)
Read moreAlthough it’s mainly a non-vegan ramen shop and they only have one vegan option, which is available after 3 PM ⏰, I highly recommend it — because it’s honestly SO delicious! 🤩
Ramen in Japan is usually on the saltier side, and this one is no exception. But with the rich miso-based broth, the saltiness feels just right and incredibly satisfying. The flavors are deep, hearty, and comforting — the kind of bowl you just can’t stop eating
Even now, just thinking about it makes my mouth water. If you’re vegan and want to enjoy authentic ramen in Sendai, this spot is definitely not to be missed!
Branch Information
Dashiro Bushi has three locations in Sendai:
two in downtown Sendai and one at Sendai International Airport. I visited the 仙台南町通り本店仙 in downtown Sendai.
Dining Tips
The shop is quite small and fills up quickly during mealtimes. Ordering is done through a ticket vending machine located on the right as you enter. Be sure to have some coins ready; if not, the staff can help you with change.
For vegans, the one option is this bowl: 根菜だし味噌ポタ (¥950)

Lovely vegan ramen - Edit
Noodles made on-site. Vegan ramen is served in a miso-soymilk soup with tomato, avocado, onions, and some greens. Service is friendly and fast. It appears to be only available in the evenings. Easily ordered using the machine at the door, including ordering extra noodles. A translation for the machine is available in multiple languages.

Good ramen, only one option - Edit
It was a tasty ramen, with a nice flavorful broth. Restaurant seats 7 countertop and 16 seats at tables of 2 or 4.
Read moreI’m personally not a fan of avocado or tomato on ramen but it still tasted good. Would rate higher if they har more than one option or had some soy meat or other vegan toppings.
Pros: Flavorful, Convenient
Cons: Only one option

Good ramen - Edit
The vegan ramen is good but a bit uninspired toppings. Would be nice with some tofu atleast or more veggies but a very tasty broth and noodles either way.

Delicious - Edit
My husband and I both loved the vegetarian option of ramen that included cherry tomatoes, chopped red onion, chunks of avocado, spinach and a few mushrooms. The broth was lovely. This restaurant doesn't have many options for vegetarians but I would certainly go back again for this dish.

This was the weirdest ramen I’ve had - Edit
They said they didn’t serve the vegan option until 3. It had tomato, olives and avocado, the weirdest combo I’ve experienced

Came for the ramen, stayed for the music - Edit
Very good vegan ramen - completely different to all the other veg ramen I had so far in Japan due to the special brooth. We also accidently ordered Almond Tofu which is apparently a dessert and not tofu, but it was awesome. Plus the 2000s and 2010s music is great.

Small place with one vegan option - Edit
They have a tasty vegan vegetable ramen.
Read moreIt would be great if they added a protein source such as tofu, but even without, it is really nice.
The staff were friendly and we liked the music (old blink 182 stuff and the like :)).

Great vegan ramen - Edit
They served vegan ramen only after 15:30 when we visited.
Read moreWe had a vegan ramen, which was the only vegan/vegetarian option at the restaurant. The soup was thick and oily, and the noodle was chewy and slightly sweet. I enjoyed the food. I hope they will make another type of vegan ramen!
Pros: Great vegan ramen (only 1 type)
Cons: They serve vegan ramen only after 3:30 PM

Solid Ramen - Edit
DASHIRO is a ramen spot located on Aobadori, very close to the heart of downtown Sendai. They offer a completely plant-based vegan ramen for just ¥900 which is just music to my ears.
Read moreYou place an order on the machine, retrieve a small ticket, and then proceed to hand it to the server while being seated.
Moments later, my miso broth noodles came out piping hot (and I mean HOT), layered on top with vegetables including avocado and onions. While the veggies felt a bit random, I can't deny that the broth itself was very satisfying. I wish there were some protein such as tofu but I can't be picky when there are so few veg friendly options in the city as it stands.
Very happy with our quick dinner stop here and would return again in the future.

Corn based ramen - Edit
There's only one vegan ramen, so they're likely to run out. The first day we tried the ramen machine sadly had a red X for sold out. I recommend not waiting until too late in the day. The next day we went earlier and we had more luck.
Read moreThe vegan ramen is a corn-based broth. I've never had one like that before. It was interesting, like a really thin corn chowder broth, with thick chewy noodles and ramen fixings.

Pros: Vegane Option, Freundliches Entgegenkommen, Preis
Cons: Gestresstes Personal, Verdorbener Magen, Zu dickflüssig

Delicious Vegan Ramen - Edit
There is indeed one vegan option of root vegetable ramen and it's absolutely delicious. You have to put your money in a machine and choose the ramen you want, the ticket comes out and you hand that to the staff. There is an English menu available, just ask the staff.

Delicious! - Edit
As others have mentioned, there's only 1 vegan option and it is clearly marked (English menu available). I found it delicious, the right combination of salty and peppery and I most definitely didn't mind the oiliness. Very comforting, and one of the few vegan options open for dinner.

Tasty vegan ramen - Edit
According to many sources Dashiro is the best ramen in Sendai. I heard they also had a good vegan ramen so I had to try it. It was very good and included mushrooms, avocado, cherry tomato and spinach. The broth was hearty and peppery but a bit too greasy to my taste. The ramen was a great bargain as it costed only 850 yen.
