Darwin's Cafe

The cafe is lovely, however the ownership has changed in 2014 and is no longer as vegan or gluten-free friendly as previous reviews mention. They could not say for certain if the bread was vegan but it is not gluten-free. Still was able to veganize some menu items but not worth going out of the way for an easy vegan meal.

Great little vegetarian cafe hidden in the Botanical Gardens on the highway to downtown Tofino.
We stopped there for lunch and were not disappointed. Everything is vegetarian, but it's not hard to find vegan options. We had soup and a sandwich, good portions and very tasty and fresh food. The price was reasonable as well for Tofino.
It's a little hard to find as it is not very well indicated but that's what Google map is for. Don't miss this cafe if you are going to Tofino.

I go to Tofino every 2 years or so and never knew this existed. While I was there this past May with friends, one of them managed to find this place online so we checked it out the day before we left. We were not disappointed! Most things on the menu were vegan, all things vegetarian, and they had amazing vegan double chocolate raspberry cookies! It was so good we went back again for breakfast the next morning before we left!

The atmosphere was really laid back and neat with cool books and a cute dog named Pete. Careful! If not paying attention he may try to steal your food. :) There were also baby ducks and chickens outside the window that were adorable to watch. A happy breath of fresh air for me! I'll be back on my next trip!
