Poor advertising - Edit
This restaurant is very ambiguous on their website, showing only vegetarian pictures and promoting as a place for vegan/vegetarians to enjoy. When called the manager confirmed vegetarian/vegan. When we arrived their was also a menu filled with meat options. We are very strict on our vegetarian/vegan restaurants and will not eat in a meat restaurant. This was a disappointment after the 30 min travel time.

Nice people. Good food - Edit
The people at Dar attajalli were very nice. They came to pick us up at our riad and took us to the restaurant/riad. We immediately got into dinner but were asked to pay ahead. The meal was very expensive to begin with, considering Moroccan prices, and we were also charged more than three times what a bottle of water costs. Oh well. We thought we would just enjoy dinner. The food was really good. Very well prepared and tasty. However, I feel that we should have received more food for what we paid, or should have been charged far less. We ate at other establishments while here, where the food was just as good, also vegetarian and vegan, yet the prices were a lot less. I would probably not come back to Dar attajalli unfortunately but still nice to know there is a vegetarian only option in town.

Tasty food with a good balance of flavours - Edit
Food was beautifully prepared and presented with a delicate balance of spices and fresh herbs. This was exquisite vegan food at its best. All the produce was fresh and so tasty.
Read moreThe set menu was quite pricey but worth it in terms of having new vegan dishes prepared with flare and passion.
The only downside was that I ate alone as it only prepares food through pretty booking.
Pros: Very well prepared vegan recipes, Attention to detail, Friendly and attentive chef and owner
Cons: No social atmosphere, Expensive

Restored guesthouse - Edit
The owner did a great job restoring the guesthouse beautifully and there were some highlights to the experience. Our meal started with some salads that were ok. There were two small soups served in juice glasses. They were very tasty but the portions were small. The main course, an artichoke tangine was delicious. Then dessert was fine but small as well. This meal costs more than other restaurants in Morocco.

fantastic vegetarian/vegan food in Fez - Edit
A lovely surprise in Fez. We arranged for dinner at Dar Attajalli through our Riad the day before and were expertly guided/welcomed to Dar Attajalli via their friendly staff (they walked us back through the medina as well). A varied, impressive 4 course dinner with fantastic flavors and a healthy spin on Moroccan regional classics. The artichoke and pea tagine was a highlight. Our favorite meal in Fez, highly recommended.

Incredible experience - Edit
Note that this is a bed and breakfast, not a restaurant! Breakfast is included for all guests and isn't available to non-guests, while dinner is optional and is a separate charge. It's possible to eat dinner at Dar Attajalli without staying there, but this requires a prior reservation; you can't just drop in. There may also be limits to how few or how many people can book dinner on a given day, so do ask in advance. I think lunch can be arranged occasionally but isn't served routinely.
Read moreDar Attajalli is one of the most wonderful places I've ever stayed. If you're looking for a bed and breakfast in Fez that will take great care of you and feed you fabulous vegetarian or vegan food, this is an excellent choice. It's lavishly restored by a fabulously multilingual vegetarian owner who can help with all kinds of advice, translations, and arrangements. She's spent years thinking about every detail of the experience she wanted to create for her guests, and loves sharing her affection for Fez with new visitors.
If I were staying somewhere else, I would still want to come by for tea or dinner on the roof (but then I would end up pretty jealous of people who were spending the night)!
Some people have complained that the food was more expensive than is typical for Morocco, even for places that cater to foreigners, which is true, but I thought it was worth it: it was a great selection of fresh, creative food, slightly different every day, beautifully presented in a wonderful environment and accommodating of specific dietary requirements.
I think the owner pointed out that you never really know what's behind a given door in the medina.
Pros: beautiful space and terrace with a view, welcoming owner, creative, attractively-presented food
Cons: tall guests need to duck a lot, kind of pricey (but I thought worth it!)

Very nice food - Edit
I took few diners in this place. The cooking is very good, the owner is a Vegeterian herself and you can tell it. Unfortunately, the price for each diner is outrageously expensive for what you have in your plates (small pieces). If you have a good appetite, you'll not feel restored. A Vegan Indian friend who was at Fes with me was very shocked about the price I had to pay for these meals.

Delightful retreat in a beautiful setting - Edit
You are in for a treat when you find this lovely rooftop restaurant in a lovingly restored riad in Fes. Climb the stairs to the enclosed roof top dining room and enjoy a prix-fixed multi-course meal of tasty Moroccan influenced dishes with unusual herbal and fragrant touches. A special meal after the usual vegetable couscous and tagine standbys.

exquisite feast - Edit
Thankyou Kleo and Dar Attajalli for serving the most beautiful feast for my friends and I on New Years Eve. It was a delicious way to see in the new year, seated up on your terrace full of flowers, overlooking the ancient medina and trying to guess the secret ingredients of each dish that gave them a distinguished twist.
Read moreWe will never forget the beetroot starter, that totally blew us away. then to follow that up with all those amazing vegetable dishes and dips and then the artichoke tagine..... wow, veggie dining doesn't get better than this.
Full compliments to the chef and the charming host Kleo for making our night in this medieval city such a memorable gourmet experience. Shukran!
