The butter used on the buns are non-dairy. Ask for vegan, and staff will assist you with the options. Open Mon-Sat 10:30am-10:00pm, Sun 12:00pm-8:00pm.

The most vegan options anywhere in Southern Illinois - Edit
The owner gets a lot of flak for inconsistent business hours and sometimes apparently having to stop taking orders due to their inability to handle both call-in and walk-in orders. I've only experienced the inconsistent business hours once and have never been turned away or told that they're too busy to take my order. Orders *do* take a long time, though, and it doesn't seem like they ever have times that they're not busy.

Most restaurants in Southern Illinois are very limited for vegan options. Dale's is more of a "greasy burger joint" than restaurant, but they have more vegan options than any other eatery in the area. So far, my kids and I have tried the chick'n sandwich, vegan Philly cheesesteak, and the Impossible burger. All of them were amazing! My daughter and I love the chick'n sandwich the best. Dale's even offers vegan cheese and vegan mayo on request - no additional charge for the burger or cheesesteak, and only $1 on the chick'n sandwich (which is the same as for a slice of dairy cheese)! Where else can you go to a non-vegan restaurant and find that?! Nowhere in Southern Illinois.
They offered vegan milkshakes in the past, but I don't think they're going to offer that again. They only have (had?) one machine for making milkshakes, and they would have to wait to run out of the vegan ice cream before they could clean it out and make non-dairy milkshakes and vice-versa. Something like that. Thankfully, the Neighborhood Co-op is just a few doors down if you want to grab a vegan ice cream sandwich, some vegan cupcakes, a vegan chocolate chip cookie, or a vegan chocolate pudding pie cup....
Their fries are pretty sad (floppy), greasy, and overpriced, so we always order fries from Pita Alley next door. :P

Great Spicy Vegan Cheesesteak Sandwich - Edit
The Vegan Spicy Cheesesteak Sandwich was extremely hearty and tasty, with Vegan meat and cheese, grilled Jalapeño, green peppers, onions, with Vegan Triple Jack Cheese.

Great vegan options and knowledgeable staff - Edit
Great vegan options! Modest, casual place with good food. I was pleasantly surprised at the vegan options that they had (this part of the state doesn't usually have much). I got the vegan burger and it was great. I also had the vegan chili cheese fries once, which were pretty decent (I didn't love the super skinny fries).

If you are looking for a burger joint fix Dale’s is the way to go if you are vegan! I’ve tried several different items from there all great! My personal favorite is the fresh chopped cheese steak. Yes, a vegan cheese steak! If you’re in town definitely stop by.

WE LOVE DALE’S! - Edit
While the business isn't vegan, the owner does an amazing job of accommodating the vegan patrons. There's a veggie burger, impossible burger, chikn sandwich, Philly cheezsteak, jackfruit fries, other various sides and desserts. Hours have varied in 2020 and 2021 since pandemic, I recommend calling first to make sure they’re open for the hours listed.

I’d give it 5 stars if I could but they don’t allow that for restaurants serving meat. The impossible burger is sooooo good. Vegan cheese, buns, vegan cheesesteak.
