A Happy Place, Indeed

After a long flight, with intermittent sleep at best, I was in dire need of plentiful sustenance in a comfortable, relaxing environment. And, in this restaurant, that is exactly what I found - contemporary, calm and spacious, it was the antithesis of a budget airline experience and the perfect panacea.
I’m not going to profess I was inundated with options here, having been privy to some exceedingly lavish spreads in my adopted homeland, many places suffer by comparison. However, there were certainly ample dishes on offer to satiate all needs and maintain interest . What’s more, the quality more than made up for any shortfall in selection.
Indeed, it was hard to find fault with anything that I managed to lay my hands on, even the mushrooms were particularly good. That being said, there were of course one or two real highlights.
Think of a number of pom potatoes that you think might be excessive for one human being to eat. Now double it and I’d say you’re probably close to what I actually had. When I say that I consumed an ungodly amount of these petite golden spheres, I truly mean it. Incredibly addictive, there wasn’t much time between finishing one bowl and topping up the next through the whole meal.
Another item that took my fancy was the pretzels. While I applied a more measured approach to tackling these, it’s no indicator that I enjoyed them any less. Fresh, doughy and adorned with the ideal amounts of salty studs, they were a fine addition to the line-up.
My final shout-outs go to the hummus and the zacusca. Not major players by any means, but both were phenomenal in their own way and rounded out the meal nicely.
An excellent introduction to the city and fine place to start the day, whether post-travel or not. Definitely worth a visit.
