adorable location and creative food

I had the hummus wrap and took it with me on the hike to Fitz Roy. It was very flavorful and packed with fresh veggies and tasty hummus. The beets did want to stain my hands and leak out so be aware. While waiting for the food I enjoyed the company of the resident tabby who loved the attention.

Pros: nutritious food, friendly owners, beautiful style

Cons: longer wait time

Very very tasty (especially after a hike!)

I ate here twice and really enjoyed both the food and the juices. You have to wait quite a time (small plave, everything freshly made)but it's definitely worth it.

A Must!!!

What a great find! Absolutely recommend this little gem! We had the wraps and burger and both were amazing. The smoothies were great too and save room for desserts.

worth visiting!

We absolutely loved this little cute cafe.
We had the pizza with cashew cheese and it was flavorsome and filling, it even have homemade sprouts on top!
The owners (both women) were so lovely and smiley. The lunch boxes and takeaway dinners for the bus are worth it too!
Please go and support this lovely place :)

Pros: fully fresh ingredients , cute place, lovely owners

Cons: (Argentina) expensive

Best Vegan food in South America

This was definitely the best vegan food we've had in South America! Tamara is super sweet and every dish she makes is incredible. Does the food take time to prepare? Yes. But it's worth every minute! Top 3 dishes were the hummus wraps, the pizza, and the rissoto. No joke, we ate every meal here during our 5 days in El Chalten...

If you're in El Chalten, this place is a must. Thanks Tamara!!

Pros: All meals were delicious

Cons: a little expensive, but completely worth it

Absolutely fantastic!

This adorable, tiny restaurant is absolutely delicious. The menu is small so you have limited choices but it's perfect. We ordered a large juice and got to choose any Frits we liked. The juice was fresh and great.
We then ordered a pizza and the pumpkin risotto. Both were quite expensive but for the amount of food and the toppings on each dish, it was well worth it. The pizza was topped with every vegetable and seed you can imagine. My mouth was in heaven!

Pros: Delicious, Friendly staff, Small menu

Cons: Expensive

Hearty Vegetarian with Fresh Ingredients (Gluten Free too)

I just ate at this lovely little hole in the wall restaurant. The young ladies working there were so helpful, but above all the food was excellent. I had the veggie hamburger which came with potatoes and a generous portion of brown rice with sauteed veggies. It was so good to each some nutritious vegetarian food after so much of Argentina's famous meat and potatoes. I also had a liquado (Argentina's version of a smoothie) - also delicious and filled with fresh fruit. I discovered this place because someone at the Tourist Information Office said they had gluten free food. So for those of you with this issue also, they can make just about everything gluten free and can give you good suggestions too. Eat in or get your food to go. It is a small place, so if you are a larger group, you probably want to make a reservation. I highly recommend them!

Pros: fresh, gluten free, delicious

Cons: service was a little slow, seating is limited

Great vegan food

Simply great fresh vegan food and juices. It's a small place so prepare to wait, but really worth waiting for. Cash only of course, as this is El Chaltén.

Pros: Fresh food

Cons: Small place

Great food and only all vegan place in town

This place advertises itself as "vegetarian/vegan" but is all vegan! It was also my favorite place to eat on a two week trip through Patagonia.

Everything we had was great. We had burgers on two hikes and had a big pizza for one dinner. The big pizza is a bit too much for 2, but would be perfect for 3 people. The sage tea infused date balls are amazing!

Preorder lunch boxes the night before so they are ready to be picked up fresh at 9am when they open to get an earlier start on your hike.

Oasis of healthy

My friend and I were trekking from El Chalten to Mount Fitz Roy. We lamented before we set out for the trails that it was really hard to find healthy food in town. Mostly a bunch of processed food and candy and very few healthy trail options.

Then, three days later when we get back to town, we stumbled across this gem of a place and wished we had found it beforehand! They have great, freshly made vegan food. And for trekkers, they have a bunch of organic and raw trail snacks like cookies, bread, granola bars, etc. Oh how great that would have felt as opposed to sugary cereal bars!

And the people working here were really awesome. They were playing soul music and dancing and singing along as they cooked literally 5 feet away from us. A really homey feeling. Would highly recommend if you find yourself in this little town.

Pros: Food made with love, Intimate setting, Fresh and flavorful food

Cons: Tiny, hard to get a seat, Limited drink selection

A gem in El Chalten

We were so excited to find Tamara's all vegan restaurant in this little quiet town and ate here all 3 days we were here.

Tamara makes everything from scratch and it shows in the quality and the taste of each dish we tried. The large pizza makes a great dinner for 2-3 people, and the lunch bags are a great way to bring healthy, energizing food with you on one of the local hikes.

Pros: High quality , Healthy, Friendly

Cons: Takes a bit of time because it's made from scratch

I was really surprised to find this amazing kitchen when I took a shortcut trough el chaltén. The food was amazing, the owner was nice and the environment was really cozy. It was also nice too be able too see with my own eyes when the food was made. Highly recommended!

Best Vegan Food in All of Patagonia

After travelling extensively throughout Patagonia for a month it was such a relief and surprise to stumble upon Tammy's new set up, Curcuma in El Chalten. The food is delicious, healthy and nutritious, with no processed foods used whatsoever. Delicious wraps and burgers, quinos bowls, budins, cookies, smoothies. A really good value deal being the take away lunches that she prepares, so you have lunch ready to go for the trails. Easily the best option in El Chalten, and in my opinion the best place i've encountered in all of Patagonia for vegan food. Curcuma is set in little cute house, that normally one would just walk by, but once you enter, you know you are in a good place. The chill ambience, loving vibrations and feelgood music convince you that your visiting a friend's place. But perhaps the best thing about Curcuma is not only the food that she prepares for you with love, but Tammy herself, one of the friendliest people i've met in my travels.

Pros: Very friendly Staff & Great Vibes, Delicious and healthy food, Good prices and location

Healthy grab and go food

Cúrcuma is a kitchen space with a counter for ordering food to take away. Ideal if you want to pack a snack or lunch to eat on a hike or picnic or a dinner to take back to your lodging. Food style is healthy western basics. Being vegan, when looking for something nutritionally powerful in Chaltén to bring up to the mountain for lunch, this was by far the best choice. Really, you should bring some bars and nut butters from home if you can for some high-quality snacks as that kind of thing is typically hard to find in Argentina.

I believe there's only one woman running Cúrcuma right now (as of January '16) so the hours are limited to what she can handle -- closed Tuesdays and don't open until 11am. I suggest calling the day before if you'll be depending on getting a packed lunch there!

Pros: Healthy, Convenient packed lunches

Cons: Wish they were open earlier in mornnig
