Very good soup

We ordered fried vegetables and also got a free soup as a starter. It had tofu which could be dipped in a fresh lemon salt, very very good.

Super nice and super tasty!

Guy who's running this restaurant is super nice! His telling his life story at the beginning, they have some vegan options and gave us some free side dishes. Everything was tasty. I would give 5 starts if it would be possible

Nice restaurant with a story

The owner is very friendly and tells you about his life from being a street kid to becoming a restaurant owner. His mom is the cook and is also very nice.
We ordered fried kale and fresh spring rolls and got free salad, rice and tofu/tomato soup. Really tasty!
The vegan/vegetarian part on the menu contains ~7 dishes.

When we arrived just the mother was there who doesn't speak english. But she gave us her phone to speak to William to order who arrived a little bit later. He was happy to explain to us how we should eat the dishes.

We definitely recommend going there and support this family!

Spread the News!

We came across this restaurant in Happy Cow but could not find it. The delightful owner, William , came out and found us on the streets of Hanoi and showed us up a tiny passage to his large restaurant. What an amazing experience! He was a top waiter who has waited on the likes of US presidents, having started life as a ragged street boy who never had enough to eat. William will tell you his story as he plies you with wonderful food. He insists that no one leaves his restaurant feeling hungry. We would not have a missed this experience. One of the highlights of Hanoi!

Pros: Marvellous atmosphere, Big portions, Good price

Cons: Tucked away, phone William if you cant find Cumulu

A little restaurant with a big heart

The food here is decent traditional Vietnamese dishes, with a good vegetarian section, and from that William will make any of those dishes vegan if you ask him. The portions are huge! We ended up taking one of our dishes away, which wasn't an issue. The story to this place is what makes it stand out, and William is rightly very proud to have his place up and running. We enjoyed our meals.

Delicious Veggie & Vegan Options

Absolutely delicious food and good-sized portions, you will not leave here hungry!
There were excellent vegetarian and vegan options, clearly labelled in a separate section of the menu. William was honest in telling us we wouldn't need as many dishes as we initially ordered (other restaurants would not have been so honest and just have enjoyed the extra money). We were also served a soup and salad with delicious lemon and chili sauce on the house (which William was quick to clarify was suitable for vegans), as well as complimentary rice wine (William was very generous with the rice wine!).
As if the food and host weren't enough, the background to the restaurant make it an even better choice: William's life story is incredibly moving, and his mission to help improve the life chances of other children in poverty is inspiring. It was definitely worth hunting down this gem, along the alley and up the stairs.
Thank you William, for the delicious food and for sharing your inspirational life story.

Pros: Delicious food, Great host, Supporting a local realised his dream
