Basic cafe with excellent smoothies - Edit
We went to this cafe at lunchtime. It is very conventiently situated only 5 minutes walk from Aberystwyth town centre. The hot menu was somewhat limited - there were more choices from 5pm. We chose a tofu & seseme burger and a veggie burger. The burgers were quite substantial, and the wholemeal rolls nice and fresh, but the fact that the chips were not so nice - very brown - was a disappointment. Since it took perhaps 10 minutes for the food to arrive any way, perhaps it might be a good idea to cook the chips fresh? The smoothies were excellent. My husband had the caramel with dairy milk and I had the Oreo smoothie with soya milk. Both were excellent.
It was also nice to have some padded, confortable chairs at the far end of the cafe. Other than that the furnishings looked a bit hippie-ish and strange!
Pros: veggie and vegan food close to town, Smoothies very good
Cons: chips not so good, strange paintings on the wall

Very disappointed - Edit
Came here early afternoon, before lunch time had really started: no soup, half the ciabattas gone and staff state they are unable to make more. Suggesting no food is made on the premises and brought in? Really poor attitude from staff, when asked to make a simple substitute of mushroom for tomato, staff stated 'no we don't do swaps', when asked if tomatoes could be taken out of one, one staff member stated a simple 'no'! So its not a cafe/restaurant, its basically a take out with seating.
Such a shame as we visit Aberystwyth often and were really excited about the prospect of some vegan friendly food to eat out with family.
Pros: good menu, if food available
Cons: poor customer service, food unavailable by 12, not enough made in prepera

Super amazing! - Edit
Updated from previous review on Thursday February 05, 2015
My first review was from February 2015, but since then the owner has expanded the menu, adding in Socca pizza, a new peanut burger, done one-off themed evenings, and, has added vegan, and sometimes gluten-free, cakes. All the cakes are amazing. His latest creation, an inventive vegan rocky road version, is just amazing.
[Below is my Feb review]
I mistakenly thought this was just a smoothie bar, but it's a down to earth cafe as well, with a select changing menu. There was soup, cawl (Welsh thick soupy stew), salads, or ciabattas on offer. The owner is v. happy to adapt options to suit your tastes!
Soup and cawl both came with a lovely vegan garlic bread roll, and the ciabatta was lovely - we had added avocado in ours! Serves hot drinks too.
Good opening hours, inexpensive, down to earth. Also sells ranges of chocolate bars and boxed teas.
Pros: Inexpensive, Opening hours, Vegetarian/vegan

❤️ - Edit
I love the Crimson Rhino! The staff are really friendly and the food is great. All vegetarian with lots of vegan options too including ciabattas, pizzas, salads and cakes. The menu seems to change fairly often so there's always something new to try. The smoothies are great too.

My boyfriend and I found this on happycow when visiting Aberyswyth. Lovely chap served me a yummy smoothie to my specifications and it was delicious. Love the blendtec that they use as it gives a great quality smoothie. Had a nice chat with him about the blendtec. Great value large smoothie. Would definitely go there again for some lunch.
Pros: Good portion, Good price for size of smoothie, Pick your own ingredients
Cons: none

Good Veggie Cafe - Edit
Enthusiastic staff, simple food, but tasty with lots of choice and vegan options. This place tries very hard to fit in with your dietary needs and always coming up with new specials.
