Amazing - Edit

I don't eat out much, but this is the only cafe/restaurant that I go to on a semi-regular basis (once every 2 weeks or so), and the food is always good, with plenty of vegan options!
All their smoothies can be easily made vegan - highly recommend the vegan oreo shake, and the jackfruit burger or the jackfruit fries.
The cafe recently came under new management late last year, and the new owners are doing their best - they and the staff also happen to be the nicest people!
So if you're in the area check this place out and support Aberystwyth's only vegetarian/vegan cafe (who are also open some evenings)!

Pros: Lovely atmosphere, Friendly owners and staff, Good portions!

Cons: Service can be slow on busy days, Menu undergoing changes (some items unavailable)

Love it! - Edit

I love this place, great staff. Tasty food. A bit unhealthy due to a lot of it being deep fried but that's just the way it is these days. There were plenty of other things that weren't fried that I could have had. Service was good even when it was full our food arrived quickly within 20 minutes and price was affordable.

Pros: Delicious food, all stuff I enjoy eating , Great service, Great price

A bit overpriced but good vegan options. - Edit

I went here with my meat eating parents at around 3pm one afternoon in the middle of august (2016) and we were the only customers!

I ordered a vegan panini with chips and my parents both ordered a veggie burger with chips. It was a bit expensive for the amount of food you get but there was no where else in Aber to eat vegan food so I didn't mind paying a bit more than usual.

The staff were very friendly and had no problem with our order, with it only taking just under 10 mins to serve our food. I also took away a muffin from the bakery counter which had a few vegan options.

Overall it was a relaxed experience and the place seemed clean and tidy with attentive staff that had a smile on their faces. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area and need a quick vegan lunch!

Amazing Vegan Food - Edit

I'm vegan and this is my go-to place in Aber. They are always putting new interesting things on the menu, the best being "pulled jackfruit"! My personal faves are the vegan ciabatta and the oreo shake. I love the light, airy and arty interior, and on nice days the garden is lovely, full of plants, herbs and veggies (growing their food?) and comfy furniture all made from pallets.

And a "no" from me - Edit

Seeing the divided opinions, thought I 'd best check Aber's only veggie place but I have to side with the less favourable reviewers.

Tried to get a place Friday night and was told there was a 45 minute wait (even though I was on my own).

Reserved Saturday and the place was very quiet. It smelt like there had been a deep fat fryer issue and the door was wide open. The flowers on all the tables looked like said malfunction had killed them (but like last week some time).

I ordered the tofu burger (which seemed too small for the bun, seemed over-cooked and had minimal garnish) and some of the greasiest chips ever- most likely re-fried and very brown.

I couldn't find signs to the toilet (which looked unkept with a dirty floor and paper towel in a mess) and I was generally not inspired with confidence about management. Basic things like provide a napkin.

I don't like to negatively review places but I've worked a little in restauarants and this place feels like it needs better management and staff training especially with food preparation.

Pros: Potentially a nice place as the interior isn't

Cons: Uninspiring and badly cooked food, Lack of attention to detail.

Awful. - Edit

Absolutely awful. The staff were rude and couldn't cope with all the orders (there were 7 people in the store, most of which had just ordered coffee). One lady had been waiting so long she asked for it to go instead and left. They were turning people away very rudely instead of just saying it'll take a bit longer. The food was awful.

Pros: Burns a hole in your wallet , By the time the food comes you're hungry, No staff gives the restaurant a minimal vibe

Cons: Over priced, Long wait times, Rude staff

Basic cafe with excellent smoothies - Edit

We went to this cafe at lunchtime. It is very conventiently situated only 5 minutes walk from Aberystwyth town centre. The hot menu was somewhat limited - there were more choices from 5pm. We chose a tofu & seseme burger and a veggie burger. The burgers were quite substantial, and the wholemeal rolls nice and fresh, but the fact that the chips were not so nice - very brown - was a disappointment. Since it took perhaps 10 minutes for the food to arrive any way, perhaps it might be a good idea to cook the chips fresh? The smoothies were excellent. My husband had the caramel with dairy milk and I had the Oreo smoothie with soya milk. Both were excellent.
It was also nice to have some padded, confortable chairs at the far end of the cafe. Other than that the furnishings looked a bit hippie-ish and strange!

Pros: veggie and vegan food close to town, Smoothies very good

Cons: chips not so good, strange paintings on the wall

Very disappointed - Edit

Came here early afternoon, before lunch time had really started: no soup, half the ciabattas gone and staff state they are unable to make more. Suggesting no food is made on the premises and brought in? Really poor attitude from staff, when asked to make a simple substitute of mushroom for tomato, staff stated 'no we don't do swaps', when asked if tomatoes could be taken out of one, one staff member stated a simple 'no'! So its not a cafe/restaurant, its basically a take out with seating.
Such a shame as we visit Aberystwyth often and were really excited about the prospect of some vegan friendly food to eat out with family.

Pros: good menu, if food available

Cons: poor customer service, food unavailable by 12, not enough made in prepera

Super amazing! - Edit

Updated from previous review on Thursday February 05, 2015

My first review was from February 2015, but since then the owner has expanded the menu, adding in Socca pizza, a new peanut burger, done one-off themed evenings, and, has added vegan, and sometimes gluten-free, cakes. All the cakes are amazing. His latest creation, an inventive vegan rocky road version, is just amazing.

[Below is my Feb review]
I mistakenly thought this was just a smoothie bar, but it's a down to earth cafe as well, with a select changing menu. There was soup, cawl (Welsh thick soupy stew), salads, or ciabattas on offer. The owner is v. happy to adapt options to suit your tastes!
Soup and cawl both came with a lovely vegan garlic bread roll, and the ciabatta was lovely - we had added avocado in ours! Serves hot drinks too.
Good opening hours, inexpensive, down to earth. Also sells ranges of chocolate bars and boxed teas.

Pros: Inexpensive, Opening hours, Vegetarian/vegan

❤️ - Edit

I love the Crimson Rhino! The staff are really friendly and the food is great. All vegetarian with lots of vegan options too including ciabattas, pizzas, salads and cakes. The menu seems to change fairly often so there's always something new to try. The smoothies are great too.

Good Veggie Cafe - Edit

Enthusiastic staff, simple food, but tasty with lots of choice and vegan options. This place tries very hard to fit in with your dietary needs and always coming up with new specials.

Cons: not in main part of town, but not fa
