All Vegan and Tasty - Edit

A little out of the way, but worth it. It's not easy eating vegan in Portugal, and I was able to fill up on really delicious, 100% vegan food. Their servings are big and their desserts are really good. They have a soup of the day, then you choose between of two different grains. Greens are always included. The tea they serve is usually mint. Entree, dessert, and tea for €10. I'll be back.

Yummy healthy and affordable - Edit

We had two days in Coimbra and chose to have both our lunches at Cozinha Consciente. The dishes were full of nutrients, low in salt and oil and very very yummy. The sugar free deserts were a plus. The staff was very friendly and we felt very good after our meals. Cannot better recommend this restaurant!

good food but slow service - Edit

The food is very good. The place is also the only 100% vegan restaurant in Coimbra, so you don't have many choices. The problem is that they are very disorganized. We waited in line for 15-20 minutes (even though the place is buffet and there wasn't so many people to serve), when it was our turn, they gave us a full plate but for the second one they said we had to wait for 15 minutes more! We were exhausted and decided to share a meal for one. Moreover, there were dirty dishes on the tables because there is no option to clean the table yourself and they are not organized - again. Pity because again the food is very good.

Excellent - Edit

This was a vegetarian restaurant before, becoming now one of the best vegan places where I've been. Everything was delicious - full menu 10 € - you'll be satisfied for sure,

Congrats,

Miguel

Pros: Delicious Food, Everything Vegan, Vegan deserts - sugar free

Amazing - Edit

My experience with macrobiotic restaurants has been consistent: I always leave thinking "this is healthy food, yes, but some taste wouldn't hurt". This restaurant is the exception. The food is amazing and the dishes served are so generous and varied that there's no way that anyone would leave feeling hungry. If you have a kid, it is the ideal place to go, not only because the food is extra-healthy but also because it has a great atmosphere and there are always children around. Don't leave without trying the sugar-free desserts, they're always great.

Pros: Excellent food, Friendy staff, Children friendly environment

Cons: Too pricey to eat on a daily basis

Healthy plant based food - Edit

Everything is an experience in this macrobiotic restaurant. from the soup to the desserts. The food is delicious and I believe the price is fair for the quality and the amount of food. You can get a full meal (soup, main plate, dessert and tea) for 10€.
The location, saddly, isn't the best and they only open for lunch from monday to saturday.
However, if you get the chance, go and try it out. Also, go for the whole meal. The soups and the desserts are really worth it, just like the main dishes. All super healthy, plant-based, with organic ingredients and sugar free.

Pros: Healthy, Organic ingredients, Delicious

Cons: Location, Schedule (only serves lunches)

rescued! - Edit

going around Portugal as a vegan is not always the most convenient thing, I find myself compromising a lot. thankfully I didn't have to do that for lunch today - as I could go to this lovely place in Coimbra. it's a canteen with one dish per day, which tastes good. plus for 10 euro I got a really full plate with a lot of different things, a drink and desert. what more do you want? very friendly staff as well... it's a bit hidden in the big complex, but worth looking for. there also a parking garage next to it where you can leave the car before exploring Coimbra.

Pros: all vegan, low cost, big plates

Don't hesitate, try it out! - Edit

We we're so glad that we found this place in Coimbra, cause there aren't many restaurants there that are veggie-friendly. The food here was the best we are during our trip in this city. The portions were big, the food is vegan and fresh. For only €6,50, we had the choice between two dishes. We tried both and enjoyed them very much. The girl who worked there was very nice and explained our options in English. The galeries where the restaurant is located is a bit strange, it looked a bit empty. But don't let that be a reason not to go inside and have a lovely vegan meal!

Huge portions!! - Edit

Great little place inside a very quiet shopping centre (upstairs). Huge servings and some nice desserts. Frequented by locals (probably because of the generous servings!) Friendly and helpful service.

Ótima opção! - Edit

Vegan haven in Coimbra - Edit

This cosy and friendly restaurant is a true vegan haven in Coimbra. All the food served at Cozinha Consciente is now vegan.

Me and my wife ate a very hearty and varied meal at lunch time. The soup included brown rice and mung beans, while my plate was filled with a heartwarming combination of cereals, legumes, vegetables, salad, and seitan cooked in the oven. And the dessert was a delicious coconut water and carob pudding.

I must say that this meal was probably the most satisfying and nutritionally complete that we had at a restaurant for a long time. And of course we were thrilled to know that everything was vegan.

If you're in Coimbra or nearby, I highly recommend that you go to Cozinha Consciente for a tasty and very satiating meal.

Pros: Plate full of varied types of foods, Care taken in the plate presentation, Moderate price

Simple, nourishing food. - Edit

First time at Menu Verde. It is self-service style. Two of the three main courses were vegan, and the staff clearly understood what vegan food is.

The food was nourishing, tasty and incredibly good value.

Would recommend if you are in Coimbra.

I am not sure if the staff speak English, I speak Portuguese, but 'Vegan' is generally understood to mean Vegan.

Pros: Vegan options, Helpful staff, Good value

Cons: Location - within a shopping mall

Menu Verde Status 2012 - Edit

Was at Menu Verde June 2012. Firstly it was a little difficult to find. The restaurant is inside the centre Galarias Topazio and you have to go up the stairs to the 2. floor. It is a quiet and clean place - serves simple, not spiced vegetarian food - it is more like a canteen/folks kitchen feeling. Not too suitable for vegans - they make vegan meals on request however.

Pros: very friendly staff, quiet place, clean

Cons: not very good for vegans

Recomendado!

Pros: Buena relacion calidad precio, Trato amable y familiar, Sitio tranquilo

Cons: Un poco díficil de encontrar

good restaurant - Edit

The restaurant is not too far from the city center. It's at the last floor of a mall. The food was good, I had a really good seitan roast and fresh lemon juice (they have a lot of choices). They didn't speak English but it wasn't a problem at all. I strongly recommend it!!!

Pros: price, food
