They are CLOSED - Edit
I’m not sure if they are permanently closed due to Covid 19 Or if something else happened. There is nothing on their website.

Oh. So. Good. - Edit
I was blown away my first time here. Had a hard time choosing my lunch, everything sounded wonderful. Settled on the amazing Tomato Basil Zoodle dish. So filling and delicious! I will surely be back. Just wish they had a location closer to my home!
Read morePros: All vegan, organic, gluten-free!, Super friendly staff!, Insanely delicious!
Cons: They close too early! Should be 24 hours. :-), Too far from my home! :-)

Quick fresh food - Edit
I stopped by for lunch and got a southwest wrap. It was freshly prepared and nourishing. I think the other comments about things being bland are related to the fact that there was very little oil or salt. The quinoa was just straight-up quinoa, for instance.

Delicious, healthy, and social good - Edit
What’s not to like about a vegan lunch spot serving highly nutritious food made from scratch employing former prisoners? My one issue with vegan food is how much processing there is - from fake meats to fake cheeses it’s hard to simply find nutritious fruits and vegetables prepared nicely. For those who said the food was not tasty, I don’t know what you had but the marinara zucchini noodles were very flavorful. The sauce was essentially made from spices, chili, garlic, tomatoes, mushroom and nut blend. I loved it. I loved the feel of it, the prices were very affordable, and I felt like I was doing my body good. Definitely will be frequenting.

Love this place - Edit
Food is excellent and made just thebwaybiblikenit. All plants and no stuff that isn’t healthy. Love their collard wraps. Wish I didn’t have to pay to park and wish they were open on weekends.

Not my Thing - Edit
Agree with other reviewers that it is not so tasty. That said, its nice to have a vegan place in a central location like this I suppose and if you are just concerned about health and not taste (or if you find bland food to your liking) I suppose this could work for you.

Quality food, tasty although pricy - Edit
CORE Kitchen offers wraps, bowls, salads, and sides, all made with whole plant foods like greens, potatoes, lentils, vegetables, and spices.
Read moreWhile I appreciate a restaurant that offers non-fried food for a change, I felt that I had to spend more money than at other nearby establishments, and I barely felt full after finishing my food. Everything was delicious, though. The flavors and spices were good.
If you feel that spending a few extra dollars for a whole-foods based meal is worth it, I would recommend CORE Kitchen. You may need to order a couple of items. If value is a concern, one of the other veg places in the neighborhood may be more appealing.
Pros: Tasty, No heavily processed ingredients
Cons: Small portions, Overpriced, Not much seating

Health and tasteless - Edit
The food is healthy but I am surprised that many people rate this place with 5 stars. The most tasteless food ever. To cook without sure and salt is one thing, to make the food have zero taste is another. For me, the place deserves one star for trying. I will not be going back there.

Finally - Edit
I have been waiting for a restaurant that cooks with only produce for my whole life. They use no sugar, salt, flour, oil, meat, dairy---only fruits and veggies and everything from scratch.

optimally healthy, delicious and filling - Edit
Since becoming a vegan several months ago, I have gradually been slacking off, eating more salt, sugar, oil and processed foods. I think eating at CORE kitchen will help me get back into the healthy eating that I set out to do when I became a vegan in the first place.

Wonderful place worth supporting - Edit
Wonderful place worth supporting! The food is organic & vegan. They don't use any salt, sugar, or oil. I strive to eat this way at home so nice to find this when eating out too.
Read moreCore Kitchen is right in downtown Oakland so caters to many working people there who take their meals to go on their lunch break. The food is served in certified compostable plant fiber containers that will turn to soil in 90 days & the silverware is compostable as well so is really setting the bar high for eco-friendly sustainable business. There are two tables that you will most likely share with another patron if you eat in as you sit below the Oakland Tribune building that towers above nearby.
Core Kitchen is a gem in the area as there are many other fast food chains nearby like Panda Express & Popeye's Chicken. In comparison this food is healthy, affordable, & tasty. I enjoyed "The Hearty" collard wrap: herbed potatoes, chickpeas, ripe avocado, & garden fixings loaded with tahini cashew cream. It came with a small side salad with a vinaigrette. I paired the wrap with a side of cumin sweet potatoes. They even had a couple gourmet condiment spices such as black or pink cracked pepper & dried jalapeno flakes to top your meal in spice jars on the silverware table. The wrap with the sweet potato side were both flavorful, affordable, & well presented. I'll be back & recommend checking out this place if you work or live in the area whether you follow a plant based diet or not!
Pros: organic, all vegan, no added sugar, no added oil, whole plant based, tasty, compostable containers
Cons: limited seating
