Good food but serious delays

We came here for lunch on possibly the first warm weekend in a while and the cafe was out of control. We had a one-hour parking space and our food took seriously over 45 minutes to arrive. We were getting pretty cranky and I was ready to give the place a terrible review. I understand that they can’t help being busy, but we received absolutely no warning of the wait at any stage. When it went beyond the 30-minute mark, I asked about the progress and the manager calmly went and checked and told us it was coming next. (Kudos to her for remaining so cool in what would have been a stressful situation.) It would’ve been nice to get a bit of acknowledgment of the delays, but we only finally got an apology as our meals were delivered. We calmed down a bit when we could finally eat (as the time approached 2pm). Both meals were quite decent: the chili scramble was substantial with plenty of flavour and the loaded nachos hit the sweet spot of crisp, tangy, fresh and creamy. I know this could’ve been a one-off unpredictable situation, but a bit of acknowledgment and apology goes a long way to mitigating a frustrating delay.

Pros: Decent tofu scramble and nachos

Cons: Serious delays with belated acknowledgement

Did you know they are closing permanently this weekend? Probably busier than usual I’m guessing?

No I had no idea. We just happened to be in the neighbourhood. Our visit was actually last weekend.

Despite my average review, I’m sad to hear they’re closing, as with any vegan cafe. I would’ve wanted to give them another go too.

Delicious cafe in a beautiful area

We loved the food here! My veggie wrap with almond feta and pesto was delicious, and my kids loved their açaí bowl and cheese & tomato toastie. The coffee was great too. Lovely atmosphere with a relaxing seating area out the front. Will definitely be going back.

Delish plant based cheesy toastie

Had the tomato pesto mozzarella toastie and it was absolutely delicious, the mozzarella melting like the one made from cows milk. I always worry when I eat a vegan dish that tastes almost like non vegan dishes but because they're 100% plant based i didn't have to worry

Pros: An all vegan cafe , Location

Cons: Gets very busy so service can be slow

What a gem!

Absolutely love this spot! If you’re ever in the area definitely stop by. Great menu with ample gf options. Their omelette is one of the best we’ve ever had. Super friendly staff. Dine in or take away and a good selection of baked goods/sweets to enjoy.

Great WFPB cafe

Have been here many times, one of our favourtie local places. Quite a wide menu and a separate kids menu (smaller portions of some items from main menu). Acai bowls are a favourite, but all items are good.

Pros: Nice location, Fresh food

Cons: Can be cold inside, Not many tables for a family of 5

What do you mean WFPB? Do they serve whole foods? Are they oil free?

Get the omelette

My dining party all enjoyed their dishes - the BLAT, the nachos, the veggie wrap - but I definitely won by far with my order of omelette.

$$$

The food isn’t that terrible depending on what you get, but it is quite overpriced. Overall, would only go rarely.

So delicious

Food here is so good. Been numerous times and never been disappointed. As someone who's gluten free as well as vegan it's always great to find somewhere with amazing gf options as well as vegan. I had the nachos and my partner has the chilli scramble.

Smoothies are delicious too.

Pros: Amazing gf options, Food is delicious, Cool decor

Cons: Bit of a drive if you're not in the south

More than pleasantly surprised

I am always sceptical of places with swings for seats and a seemingly instagram focused aesthetic. A friend suggested we go, and I went begrudgingly. I loved it so much I've been back 4 times since in the last 2 months. I disagree with other reviews that it's expensive. Currently $19.50 for the nachos (April 2022) which is a very generous portion and filling. I've had numerous other dishes (which were great) and felt the price for all were fair. I only wouldn't recommend the acai bowl as the acai was on the edge of frozen and just too cold to enjoy. The hot chocolate is delicious, as well as the choc peanut smoothie. This is the only vegan cafe in the near area, and more than happy to support. People are kind, decor is chill. Great GF options for my girlfriend who is coeliac as well. Can walk to Conscious from Mordialloc Station, lots of 2 hour free parking nearby as well. Try it out and see what you think

Cute place and tasty food

I like this place, it’s a sweet cafe and their food always looks beautiful. It’s tasty too, but overpriced.
The chai latte I had was always flavourless.
They have lovely sweets in the window, and I love that they support local businesses like future sushi and cutie croissants.

Pricey

Good cafe although a bit pricey. Not being a fan of fake eggs it was with trepidation that I ordered the Om lette and was truly surprised with how good it was. Fresh and delicious with Avocado on the side. Quite enjoyed it after a bit of a wait but it was a busy Sunday morning.

Good food but ...

Was a regular at Old Moorooduc cafe which had good relaxed vibe but dropped into new Mordialloc cafe today to grab some t/a raw tarts but bit chaotic and staff seemed bit flustered - also got charged card surcharge even though I was getting T/A Ana bought my own container - weird 💁

Pros: Good food , Ethical , Pleasant staff

Cons: Bit disorganised , Bit overpriced , Old cafe better

Amazing food -do yourself a favour and check them out

I love this place. The food is delish, smoothies amazing. Service is great.
Today i had again the Choc Peanut smoothie. Love it. I was also lucky enough that some new menu items were added this week. I ordered the Om lette and wasn't disappointed. Since i've been vegan (over 20yrs) I've not had a vegan version that reminds me of the non-vegan version but in a good way. So many goodies added not just the om lette. mushies, tomatoes, zucchini slices, a small tub of guac

see you again soon

Pros: everything, the food, service

Cons: nothing

Poor service, food choice & food quality

So disappointed in my visit (30/12/20) after being a regular customer for years at Moorooduc. So many issues to list but I’ll start with the few positives.
A totally vegan cafe that I so want to support. A good location near the water (albeit noisy from passing traffic)
There it stops though unfortunately.
Service was hopeless despite the cafe being quiet. My table was filthy (food spills and uncollected dirty plates from previous customers) and neglected by passing staff until I asked for it to be wiped. My coffee was cold and even though asking politely for a hot one I was met with an icy attitude. The wait for meals was very long and our meals came out with huge time gaps in between - the hot food (nachos) coming first yet the refrigerated prepared food came 10-15m later.
When ordering a tax/fee is added to the bill - not a set amount but random figures. No staff member could explain this.
The choices of meals was very limited and unexciting. The 3 of us eating all said our meals were average.
I wrote to the owner following our visit and have had no reply whatsoever.
I won’t be back.

Pros: Totally vegan , Good location

Cons: Poor service, Limited and uninspiring menu, Pricy

Uncoordinated

So wanted to like this place but it was a disaster from start to finish.
First up - overcrowded and no control during covid.

Could not find a menu - and when I asked was told they were outside. Still couldn’t find one so logged on to their website to take a look. Found what I wanted. Queued up only to be told the website menu isn’t currently the menu they are using - so was now given a menu - went away - chose again - and the choice is slim.

Service was slow. The missus got her food. About 15 minutes later our coffees arrived. The missus finished her food - and then mine arrived.
I ordered a veggie wrap. It was rushed, certainly wasn’t a wrap, and had zero flavour. Zucchini wasn’t cooked properly, spinach was soggy - and the feta was pretty much non existent.

I left most of it - and tbh I was not that happy having shelled out $45 for the privilege.

The coffee was good so would go and grab a coffee from them again - and the smoothies looked good too.

Would not be back for food. It was honestly awful.

I hate writing a bad review - but for what I paid I would expect much better.

Pros: Good coffee, Good location

Cons: Poor food, Uncoordinated service, Not very covid safe

Gone downhill since the move to Mordialloc

I have been a frequent CC customer since they opened in Mooroduc. I was very excited to get out to Mordialloc once the covid restrictions allowed me to travel 25km but unfortunately, my whole family were very disappointed. My daughter & I ordered a favourite of ours from the menu (BLT) but it is no longer the same, it was flavourless. I was also very concerned about the lack of Covid Safe practices being followed. They are saying the cafe is takeaway only but we were provided glasses of water to our table, and the coffees were in proper eat-in cups. Only the food was in takeaway containers. The table set up was not covid safe, too many tables were crammed into the verandah, with way less than 1.5m between them. They had no way to check in. The barista had her mask worn with her nose out 90% of the time. The owner arrived maskless, and was behind the counter for 30mins serving food before she put her own, very poor fitting, mask on. My whole family are disappointed our favourite cafe has gone downhill and that they aren't being covid safe. We are all in this together and we all need to play our role to ensure we don't end up back in lockdown again. I wont be going back to CC.

Pros: Coffee was nice, Acai bowl was good, It was nice to be eating out again

Cons: Lack of covid safety, Mask less staff, No check in

Great little vegan cafe!

Delicious, friendly staff and great outside sitting area. No phone number though so you either go there and wait or you have to pay for delivery which is pretty annoying as their food is already super expensive.

Oct 17th never buying from them again. Spent almost $30 on a main meal with delivery as you can’t call to pick up. Would barely pass as an appetiser literally the size of my thumb.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Friendly, helpful staff

Cons: Expensive but gf and tastes very fresh , Does not have phone number

Nice but very pricey

Nice place. Nice coffee. Ordered a veggie wrap and bruschetta. Veggie wrap was nice. Bruschetta was very ordinary definitely not worth $15.50 for 1 piece of bread. Will only go back if I’m desperate.

Pros: Great that it’s FODMAP friendly.

Cons: Very expensive

Pretty good but pricey

I got a veggie wrap and my family friends got the curry roll. It’s very expensive, so that’s something to keep in mind, but the food was lovely and I really enjoyed their almond feta and their gingerbread cookies.

Pros: All vegan!, Tasty food

Cons: Expensive
