Nezahualcoyotl 40, Mexico City, Mexico

Low-profile, basic and authentic Mexican comedor in downtown that serves mostly vegan menus during daytime. You can choose between some salads, soups and main dishes - mainly Mexican comida corrida prepared with soy or tofu and a dessert. Offers fresh juices. Authentic atmosphere. Open Mon-Fri 12:00pm-6:00pm.

off the beaten path comedor - Edit

This is a low-key, nearly invisible little neighborhood spot in an area where few visitors wind up.

It's a pretty standard naturista-style comedor with a set meal of the day, simple but healthy, and inexpensive.

Unlike some similar spots, their menu runs until closing time at 6, so it's possible to stop by for a late lunch. Worth it for the local atmosphere and interesting area.

Note: the food is pretty mild by design, but you can ask for their picante and get some insanely spicy chiles/rajes.

Pros: cheap, healthy, friendly

Cons: not much selection, pretty mild stuff
