Com Chay Nang Tam serves tofu and faux meat type dishes, lightly steamed vegetables. Popular among locals who come for the veggie lunch. In the city center but slightly difficult to find as it's in the 2nd backyard. Reported still open, Nov 2014. Open Mon-Sun 11:00am-1:30pm, 5:00pm-9:30pm.

Stumbled upon this place by accident but was not disappointed. The menus were delicious and very big/filling. Great value for money. What a gem!

Nice food and variety but...

This place has a lot of mock meats available on the menu and operates a bit like a tapas restaurant where you can get a set menu for two or choose your own 5/6 plates to share. Good location near Hoan Kiem Lake. Enjoyed my meal here, however, unfortunately I did get very ill after eating here which for me means I will not be returning!

Lots of options

There are many mock meats on the menu, however one of the dish ordered was not available. The food was good although for its price it may deserve to be slightly better.

Pros: Comfortable sitting, large range of options

Cons: On the pricey side for what you get

Nothing special

We ordered fried tofu, steamed rice and both grilled and fried eggplant. The food was okay, but we had better ones. Wouldn't go there again.

Pros: Lots of options

Specialized in mock meat

If you like mock meat, perhaps this one suits you. I found this place good but rather average.

We'll try again

Unfortunately I found the place after filling myself of vegan bahn mi, and only ordered a 10 spice rice, which was very good, but want to try one of their course meals and fake meats which they seem to have plenty. They escorted me inside with umbrella and gave me a disposable raincoat.

Pros: Fake meats, Good price, Tasty

Tasty food and many options

Good food at a great price! I ordered a menu and got a plate with different kinds of homemade fake-meats, soup and rice. Lots of vegan options, I actually didn't see a non-vegan option...

Nice veggie restaurant

Some say it's hidden but it was easy to find. Next to the Hanoi Police headquarters on Trần Hưng Đạo there's a sign, enter the alley, make a left and a right and there you are. Wide variety of dishes and set menus which were reasonably priced. Friendly atmosphere. Would go again.

Pros: Many vegan dishes, serve alcohol.

Cons: None

Smallish cafe at the back of an alley way, light and spacious with a great folklore tale behind the name. The snowballs were amazing, mushroom and potatoe croquettes. Couldnt belive the price! WINNING

Extensive menu with mostly vegan options. Can choose from the well selected set menus if stuck for choice. Everything is delicious, everyone is very humble and a relaxed setting. Group and family friendly. Access via a long side road from Tran Hung Dao

Unexciting food. Waiter gave me something non-vegan

We came here on our first night in Hanoi as it was the closest place still open.
The food is quite expensive to Vietnam (especially when during the day the banh mi place across the street is selling food at a quarter of the price).
We ordered the ginger chicken, which was just TVP pieces with some seasoning and ginger pieces for 45k. It tasted okay, but wasn't very exciting. The spring rolls (8k each) were nice but you can get cheaper elsewhere (like across the road) and I ordered the sweetcorn cakes (10k each), being told they didn't contain egg or milk, but after eating half I asked another waiter and he told me (in very confusing and broken English) that it does have milk inside. I said I didn't want it and thankfully they did take it away and didn't charge for it.
Soup portions are very small and a lot of the starters are sold per piece, so can work out more expensive than it seems.
If you are hungry and have no where else to go, then it's an option but I wouldn't choose it if there are alternatives.

Pros: Open late, Quite a few vegan options (or so i would guess fro

Cons: Expensive, Food lacks flavour and creativity, Vegan items aren't labeled and not all staff are n

Cheap and satisfying

Nice and clean little resto. Quick service. Among other stuff they offer meal sets. We had a menu for 60k & for 80k VND (soup, steamed rice and a big plate with variety of mock meat, steamed vegetables, tofu, spring rolls etc.). Decent quality, clean & cheap.

Amazing vegan and veggie food

Really cosy and well presented place. Beautifully (and quickly) prepared food. MASSIVE portions and really cheap.

As the guide says continue through the courtyards and you'll stumble across a great find.

Pros: lots of vegan options., massive menu, cheap

Decidedly meh

I've been here a few times, and every time I've been disappointed. The food is just not very good. Much of it is greasy. Most dishes include mock meat, but it's not even the good mock meat. There are far better vegetarian restaurants within just a few blocks of here.

I would give this restaurant 1 star if Happy Cow allowed it, but the lowest they let you rank it is 2 stars.

Pros: Not too expensive

Cons: Food not very good

Okay but not great

I usually prefer somewhat more upmarket vegetarian restaurants to com chays, but I went to this one because of the good reviews. I had a fixed menu for 80.000 dong, which gives a variety of dishes on one plate. Most dishes were alright, but not that special. The tofu with tomato sauce was exactly what it says. The 'chicken' simply tasted if soy sauce. There was a lot of bokchoi. These things were not super tasty, but they were alright. I really did not like the 'beef' parcels in leloy (not sure how you spell it) leaf though. Although you can get a very inexpensive meal here, I know some places in Hanoi where you can get a better dish than the 80.000 dong menu I had decided to choose.

Cute Hideaway

Great set menus and a lot of reasonably priced dishes. I opted for set menu 2B and was very impressed. The snow balls are delicious potato and mushroom croquettes, the beef in lalot leaves are really tasty especially if dipped in the sauce provided and the mock meats are TVP based and very nice. The greens were overly salty for my taste though and the soup was a little bland. Overall a great place if you are a veggie on a budget! (Oh, saying that, we were charged for the napkins!?!?!?)
