so chocolatey good - Edit

A friend and I ordered the fondue- delicious melted chocolate with a platter of banana slices, dried figs, brownie pieces, pretzels, and Sweet & Sara marshmallows. It was amazing. We also each ordered hot cocoa- one spiced cocoa and one regular cocoa with a shot of espresso. Both were so tasty. The person working at Cocoa V was very friendly, helpful and efficient (she seemed to be the only staff working at the time). I can't wait to return!

Cocoa V was cash only.

Pros: excellent chocolate choices, fondue!, 100% vegan

Cons: cash only, expensive

Nice for a Special Occasion - Edit

Went here for a special occasion- wouldn't ordinarily spend $13 each on a plate of chocolate. The chocolates were great and the service was also great. We were a bit disappointed that they only sold kosher wine by the bottle- so we had hot drinks instead. I found the hot chocolate too rich, but I'm probably not used to having vegan hot chocolate either.
Though the chocolate is expensive, and the portions seem small, they are very satisfying. In fact, I took a one of my pieces home.
It was a cozy place, and we really enjoyed our date.

Pros: yummy, nice atmosphere, kosher

A must for all chocolate lovers - Edit

I was floored by the gorgeous case of chocolates that greeted me when I stepped into Cocoa V. The amount of flavors and types of chocolates available was overwhelming. How often do we vegans get to walk into a store filled with chocolate and have the option of ordering anything we see?! I sat in the sweet little cafe side of the place and ordered the choose-you-own chocolate sampler plate and a glass of the hot chocolate (iced). The young man who helped me was, as another reviewer noted, very sincere and shared my excitement about the menu and options. He truly made this feel like a special experience, and even seemed to get a kick out of me snapping pictures of the plate before I took a bite. I loved the presentation of the chocolates-simple yet elegant- and I also loved the little bamboo trays that were used as plates. Everything I tried was incredible, and I am glad I had the hot chocolate iced. I highly recommend the Earl Grey bonbon. So unique. If you love chocolate, I highly recommend you put Cocoa V on your NYC to-do list.

Pros: 100% vegan chocolate, cute space, great staff

A Vegan Chocoholic's Paradise! - Edit

Even though I work just two blocks from this fabulous new Chelsea Vegan hotspot, I haven't had the time to visit until this morning. I came in at opening and everyone was so sincerely warm and welcoming. All of the staff were super sweet, and super helpful. Incidentally, everyone who works there is a Vegan her/himself. I really like that.

There is SO much to choose from. SO many options. SO much temptation. (Not a place to be if you're on a strict weight-loss program!) I ordered an assortment of Chocolates-- DIVINE! You literally can NOT pick a bad one. And I treated myself to their Espresso Hot Chocolate (soymilk based) with three vegan marshmallows inside... I had to sit down and really take in the experience.

This PROVES that you can do delicious sweets and chocolates, all organic and sustainable/fair trade... and DELICIOUSLY! This is good for the earth, good for workers, good for animals and, as it makes us Chocoholics so happy, good for you! I'm sure I won't make it a week before heading back!

Pros: Friendly Staff, All Vegan/Organic/ Fair Trade, DELISH!

Cons: Moderately pricey

Don't pass up the Hot chocolate - Edit

Cocoa V is a cozy and well designed albeit romantic chocolate bar. They will soon get a liquor license. We had walked for almost 2 hours in the cold and rain, and relished the warmth of the place. Their hot chocolate is out of this world. And for $4 it is the best deall in the place. The chocolate plate (5 little pieces for $13) was nothing to write home about. The chocolate mousse ($8) with raspberry preserve was okay. They have a very limited menu outside of the chocolate and dessert menu.

Pros: Hot chocolate, atmosphere

Cons: price, mediocre chocolate

Vegan and Chocolate? Oh, yeah! - Edit

Stumbled upon Cocoa V while shopping in the area and what a find! The chocolates here are so good that the chocolates we purchased to bring back to Boston for Christmas were consumed within the day. We went back the next day and made sure our new purchase was boxed and tied shut! These are the best vegan chocolates I've had. The caramel varieties are, hmmm, FABULOUS! Everything we tried was delicious including the marshmallows, the different varieties of bark, the truffles....now where did I hide that tied box?

Pros: excellent, creative, fabulous staff

Cons: expensive
