Hidden Vegan Gem! - Edit
Hands down one of the best vegan curry I’ve had! It’s called "The Allergen-Free Curry" (found under the kids menu) is so tasty and I wish they had this in Australia because I would eat here all the time. Ordering is easiest via the iPad to avoid communication issues, and it comes in a packaging you put together yourself for allergen reasons. Small venue, so there might be a short wait at busy times, but it’s absolutely worth it. Highly recommend!

This was my first time at CoCo Ichibanya and I can definitively recommend this chain. They offer a vegan curry (listed as vegetarian) that can be customized with vegan toppings, including many vegetables and natto. Also, the size and the spiciness are fully customizable. The curry was stunning and it really warmed me in a cold, winter night. On top of that, it is extremely cheap.

We were in Sapporo during golden week, which means not all restaurants are open as usual. Especially later in the evening, it is quite hard to find vegan food options, but CocoIchi saved me at least once. I really like the vegetable curry and you can add different vegetable options (like spinach, classic vegetables, mushrooms, fried aubergine etc) as toppings. The size is really generous and the food is cheap. I love it!

As always, a very fast and good way to eat a hot delicious meal. This location is pretty tiny, it's just a bar around the kitchen, I think there was room for 7 or 8 people to sit inside.

There's a QR code for ordering straight from your phone to the kitchen, and then they drop the receipt and you pay up front.

The vegetarian curry is vegan (make sure to specify vegetarian curry when you order). I got it with eggplant and vegetables. The taste of the curry is sweet and very delicious. We got it to go and then added tofu from the convenience store. It is a cheap and convenient meal, especially at night when nothing is open. Be mindful that you can ask for half a portion of the add ons (eggplant, vegetables) or a full portion. I also recommend the pickle vegetables, they come free with the meal!

You can get a decent curry meal here. They have vegetarian curry available. Although I ordered it with soy patty, the menu says they will no longer the patty after 2023 July. I think the veg curry base will still be available and you can add toppings like vegetables, eggplants, spinach, etc. The curry tastes sweet with regular spiciness. It is served hot so will warm your body on a cold day. I would say the taste is average but decent enough for someone who has never had Japanese curry. The space is bar style with limited seats.

This was the only place open after most other vegetarian friendly restaurants were closed on a Monday. The menu had a vegetarian section so there was no communication error and the food was hot, filling and rich in umami.

First time coming across this chain but they seem to be very well known and popular. This branch is extremely small, about 7-8 counter seats only and located just off the main shopping street Tanuki Koji.
Read moreThere’s a page clearly marked vegetarian curry that specifies it is animal-free and you can choose toppings such as a ‘Zeromeat’ patty, spinach, mushrooms, vegetables, corn etc as well as multiple egg options.
You can also personalise more or less rice ratio and your spiciness level from regular or lvl1-10. (It notes vegetarian curry is not available in mild but as a 0 spice person, I don’t know how you get milder than the ‘regular’)
The chef was kind and friendly and the food was delicious!
