Curry is served with a portion of rice. Indicate spice level and portion size at the time of placing order. Must order from this menu for your curry to be vegan. On the regular menu, the vegetable curry contains meat, but you'll find a vegan salad or two. Note that not all branches provide vegan curry options, suggested to check ahead. My savior in Minami-Kusatsu

During the days I’d stayed in Minami-Kusatsu, CoCo Ichibanya is like the only place that actually offers vegan menu instead of me asking every restaurant to customize my vegan meal.
Not every branch of CoCo Ichibanya serves vegan curry rice, so you may wanna check the official website beforehand.
To have the vegan curry in CoCo Ichibanya, you have to choose what veggies you love, spicy level, and whether you wanna extra or less rice.
There are several veggie options to choose from: mixed veggies / mixed mushrooms / spinach / eggplant / tomato / tomato & asparagus / okra & Chinese yam!
If you’re a spicy lover, the hottest level in CoCo Ichibanya would somehow challenge your tongue as well as stomach!
My favorite combination are mixed veggies, eggplant, with okra & Chinese yam. The eggplant that I recommend the most is unexpectedly impressive in a mysterious way! Beside curry, the pickles on the table are also vegan.
The thing you need to know the most is that the package labelled without animal ingredients on shelf is actually NOT vegan! I certainly don’t know why even after the staff’s explanation WHY?!! Anyway, the really vegan curry package is in the freezer, just don’t get it wrong!

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Friendly staff, Inexpensive

Cons: vegan curry package is actually not vegan
