Amazing Gem in Charles Town - Edit
It was such a joy to finally go to this amazing eatery! The folks greet you as soon as you enter their establishment, and the bright dinosaur based decor awakens your senses to then hone in on the food!
Read moreThe menu is very impressive with tacos, sandwiches, platters, sides, desserts, drinks and appetizers. They also have sushi and other specials. So, you can be sure there are going to be some items, and you can be expected to find a special, too.
Personally, my weakness is creative vegan sushi, and they hit the spot! Soooooo gooooood. No wasabi or pickled ginger or soy sauce added, but not needed. Cannot wait to go back for more! I had this oyster mushroom based sushi referred to as "crispy shrimp tempura" - so good! Crunch and richness and not too salty! So good!
The other food was also phenomenal - papas supremas, messy nachos, bbq jackfruit tacos and the brontosaurus platter. So good, so good! The nachos are super loaded up with delicious nacho cheese and aioli garlic sauce, black beans, jalapeños and fresh pico de Gallo. So good, so good! The papas supremas were similar but with French fries as the base and added jackfruit - you can get Impossible on it, too. I loved the tacos and chose yuca as my side -fried perfectly. The yellow rice and beans with the brontosaurus platter was an excellent complement to the richly flavored veggies and the small side salad.
All in all, a steal of a deal for freshly made food. Loved this place, and I cannot wait to go back. Better go soon, this is the end of an era in March 2024 (as noted on their social media).
Pros: Vegan, Tacos, Sushi
Cons: Not closer to me, Needs more sushi choices every day, Would love more taco choices too

Creative and friendly - Edit
This cute place was worth the drive to Charles Town. The dinosaur theme along with Puerto Rican vegan food made me happy in two ways, lol, and the owners seem to be having a blast. I finally got to try mofungo. Their version is huge and very savory. From the affordable price of the empanadas, you would expect them to be small, but they are not -- we tried all four kinds. The restaurant is attached to an artsy general store in the back. Formerly an old school diner, it now has hilarious and cute dinosaur decor everythere. Very fairly priced. I hope this becomes a chain and takes over the world. I think kids would really love it too.

Did not disappoint! - Edit
Let me start by saying I absolutely love the atmosphere. Whether it was the drawings on the wall or the presentation of the food, It was very original and just all around a good vibe! The staff was very friendly, the service was remarkable and very attentive. The food was very fresh and had come out very quickly. It's also fully vegan, so there's a star in its own right, I definitely plan on going back!

5++++ - Edit
Amazed at the wonderful food. Meals comparable to a large city restaurant yet located in Charles Town, WV. Very professional staff, high end detailed food presentations, clean setting. Each dish was delicious and filling. Drinks were creative: hibiscus lavender pea flower lemonade, oatmeal latte, blue pina colada, etc. We ordered the BBQ guava jackfruit tacos with plantains, brontosaurus platter which included fresh broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, other veggies, perfectly steamed in a delicious sauce, Puerto Rican style yellow rice w/beans, and a mixed lettuce salad. Healthy choices. The day we went, their daily special was a tempura type sushi, homemade raptor cake topped with whipped creme and rose petals and other things but we were too full to try the specials. They post daily specials on Facebook.

Everything was spot on! So glad we finally were in town when they were open because it was well worth the wait. I went with the recommendation to f the brontosaurus platter and it was surprisingly filling! I couldn’t even finish it. My husband chose the cart dog and said it was delicious. He finished my food and enjoyed it as well!

Worth the drive! - Edit
First, we were warmly greeted as soon as we entered the restaurant. We visited on their “Sooshi” night. We had the Volcano, Puertorican, and Borisaurus roll. They were exquisite!! By far the most unique sushi I’ve had. My (almost) two year old thoroughly enjoyed it also! Would 100% recommend this place to vegan and non-vegans!

We were passing through town on a road trip and were surprised to see a vegan restaurant in West Virginia. We ordered the Trifecta sandwich, loaded fries, and empanadas to share. Everything was great! Portions are very generous. We couldn't finish it all.

Lovely addition to the veg community! - Edit
I finally managed to stop in the restaurant for the first time and had a great experience! Getting a glimpse of Puerto Rican culture through vegan food was an absolute treat. I got the veggie mofongo which came with a side salad. It was delicious and I also really liked the passion fruit vinaigrette salad dressing. My boyfriend enjoyed the entregao sandwich.

Divine Empanadas! - Edit
I loved the pionono empanadas - with impossible meat and plantain. Like nothing I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating before. My daughter enjoyed the pizza empanada and the impossible and potato empanada. The tacos were great. If I lived in Harper’s Ferry, I would come here weekly. I loved the novelty of eating vegan Puerto Rican food.

Puerto Rican comfort food - Edit
Papa rellenas or rellenos de papa were one of my favorite breakfasts when I was a kid. They are deep-fried stuffed mashed potatoes. I started becoming vegetarian when I was in junior high and hadn’t had one in about 35 years. I couldn’t believe it when I saw them on the menu of an all-vegan Puerto Rican restaurant in Charlestown, West Virginia. We kayaked near Harpers Ferry and drove over. I devoured an order and got two more to go. I can’t recommend Cocina Plantosaurus enough.

Folks, this place is perfect - Edit
Wound up here totally blind making an unexpected drive through the area on our way back home last summer and just hoped it would be cool because of the name. My wife was a couple months pregnant at the time and we ended up liking it so much we went back and got a whole other order for the road. Every single thing we had was incredible. They do all kinds of good stuff with plantains. The staff were way friendly. Very obvious that they love what they do and this is one of the best east coast vegan places you’ll find for many many miles in any direction.

Customers Are Like Immediate Friends - Edit
Not what I'd expect to find in small town West Virginia, haha... Vegan Puerto Rican food, but... Wow! I was greeted with an amazing big smile from Lyam and then David behind the counter; immediately felt welcome and among friends, which is rare for an introvert like me. For a new place, I'd say they're off to a GREAT start! The meal I had was delicious, great menu, and I am anxious to go back.

The YUMMIEST vegan dishes with a Puerto Rican flair! - Edit
I challenge you to only eat one dish from Cocina Plantosaurus! Every meal is DELISH! The pride of her Puerto Rican heritage and the commitment to a vegan lifestyle come together for some AMAZING flavors in all the dishes. They have been treating us to their scrumptious, beautifully presented dishes for a while, but have now opened a restaurant in Charles Town. Try it out, you and your non-vegan friends will not be disappointed! FAVS: Papas Supremas, Rex in a Canoe, Jackfruit Mofongo, Beyond Triceratops, and ALL Empanadas, Saturday Only Brunch items: Beyond Benedicto Burger and Banana Almond Pancakes. Will update as I try more from their diverse menu! Plenty of food at a more than reasonable price with STELLAR customer service! Check out their FB page for menu.

Vegan Puerto Rican food! Huge menu with a lot of unique food selections. Plantain nachos, sandwiches, mofongo, brunch, sushi available at certain times, specialty drinks. Everything here has been absolutely delicious. The inside is huge and very welcoming, decor is bright and dinosaur themed. Small lounge area in the back and a bar seating section. Restrooms available. Staff are all so so sweet.
