Dude idk, maybe people are thrilled about the groceries? The vegan selection of prepared foods at this and its sister stores in the area SUCKS. for real. I think you can grab like cold samosas? And a salad or two? They do have an amazing new and cheap vegan yogurt. But it's the big size, don't know why you'd be on happy cow for that. Do people use this website to find grocery stores??
Lots of options for people with dietary restrictions! - Edit
The Food Co’op is willing to order vegan food in bulk for you to pick up at a later time. I have had positive experiences doing this with vegan muffins and vegan yogurt. The Food Co’op has a section with all vegetarian and vegan options near the fruit. Can be pricey but worth checking out!
Good and growing variety of vegan products offered. Offer great brands like kite hill, cashewgurt, ezekiel, etc. Decent fruit and vegetable selection.
My favorite feature is that you can buy spices by weight, so I only ever get just what I need for a recipe rather than having to get a full bottle of some obscure spice that will just go stale in my pantry after a single use.
They advertise that if you don't find a product you fill out this form and a manager will get back to you about whether or not they can provide it for you. I have done this various times and no one has ever gotten back to me. However, for being in a somewhat remote location, this store has a large variety of high quality products. Closest thing to Whole Foods in the Upper Valley, and also very conveniently located within walking distance of the Dartmouth campus.
The Hanover Co-op is very meat-centric. They have a few mediocre vegetarian options mixed in with their meat dishes in the deli. From a natural food/organic and vegetarian perspective, the Co-op is a huge disappointment. It's basically a regular commercial-style grocery store with some natural foods thrown in. It's better than nothing, but it's the worst co-op I've ever been to. They don't even have working memberships. [edit by staff]
