Yummy Indian food, but incredibly spicy and expensive - Edit
Clay oven is an upscale Indian restaurant with amazing service and tasty food. Prices are pretty high for smaller portions.
Read moreClearly marked vegan and vegetarian options, though not as many vegan options as some other Indian restaurants.
I have decent spice tolerance and my partner is Indian and frequently eats spicy dishes. We ordered some of our dishes medium and some mild and they were all incredibly spicy! Even piling on the rice and roti it was hard for me to eat. Just be warned about this!
Pros: Good atmosphere, Tasty
Cons: Too spicy, Expensive for smaller portions

Great place but not as many vegan options as reviews suggest - Edit
Lovely food here but only the roti is vegan there are no vegan naans, so don't believe all the previous reviews. The curries are very spicy and the lentil Dall was too hot for the kids so they made a plain curry sauce Dall which wasn't spicy and they loved. The samosas were nice but the pakora wasn't to my liking. The rotis were delicious. The staff were so helpful😄

Tasty, but expensive - Edit
It was not apparent to us, that ee had to pay 4€ extra for rice ontop of a 14€ meal, because we thought it was included like it usually is, we ordered take out and requested cutlery, which we didn't get. The taste was really good and I'd recommend visiting the restaurant if you have lots of money to spend.

Out of the Clay Oven and into the fire of a damn good curry - Edit
Spotted the Clay Oven just walking past. Place was full and the menu had some great vegan dishes. Why not, and all I can say is … a very lucky find …
Read moreRestaurant: It’s upmarket. Nicely set tables, polished cutlery and glasses with traditional music. It’s open plan so you can see the food being cooked and it smells amazing.
Menu. There’s a whole page dedicated to vegetarian dishes of which most are vegan and the many others can be adapted. With the exception of one rice and one bread, all the rice, naans and rotis are vegan too. When ordering they ask you for the level of heat you’d like - and they nailed it. We had …
Poppadoms and pickle €6 to start. Nice selection of pickles with an unusual one which was nice - can’t recall what it was.
Legume (Vegetable) Biryani €10.50. The rice and vegetables came separate (as did the meat on other tables) showing they understand veganism and the importance of food separation. It was a great biriyani with veg perfectly cooked and the sauce tasted wicked - hot but not too hot.
Baigan Bhartha (Roasted Aubergine Curry) €10.50 with Arroz de Cogumelos (Mushroom Fried Rice) €4. Aubergine is easily and quickly destroyed if overcooked but this was perfect. It had absorbed the flavour retaining its soft but tender structure. This was to be very hot 🥵 and it was, but without being a overpowering dry powdered heat. Delish and mushroom rice went well with it as they had big chucks of mushrooms in it.
Chilli Naan €4 and a Kulcha Naan (potato and spices filling) €4.50 were bloody gorgeous. Not your usual big fat doughy naans, but flat well flavoured naan’s straight ‘out of the clay oven and into the fire ‘of the spicy curry.
Super Bock Beer €3.50 each were a great accompaniment to the biriyani and curry.
It was one on the better curry’s I’ve had outside of London.
Would I go back? Yes indeedy
Would I recommend? Yes indeedy too

Amazing food! - Edit
This place was really good, I had the chickpea curry and my friend had the veg biryani. Both were excellent, the staff are friendly and the service was quick. It gets very busy so I would recommend getting there around 6 or 7 if you don't want to wait for a table.

Lovely Indian food - Edit
It's a long wait to be seated here, but the wait is worth it 😊 staff very knowledgeable about vegan food and able to point out the vegan options to you. I saw somebody saying that their plain naan is vegan, but it isn't. Only their roti with no butter is vegan.

Surprising find - Edit
Found this place by chance and was really happy that we did! The menu has a vegetarian section, with vegan options clearly labelled. The portion sizes were big and absolutely delicious! We tried the channa masala, baigan bhartha and Dall tarka with basmati rice and naan and everything was perfect. Wish it wasn't the last day of my vacation so I could go again!
