Forgot to remove egg from dish

I ordered Pad Kee Mao with Tofu. I requested no fish sauce and no egg. The server said it wasn't a problem. I didn't realize until half way through that there were tiny pieces of egg in the dish 😭 The appetizers were tasty. We ordered shiitake tempura and fried tofu. It's just disappointing they wouldn't double check something like egg, especially with it being a common allergy. I would have given them 4 stars on the taste of everything if the egg incident wouldn't have happened. I would double check everything if you go here.

Tasty Thai

Four of us went here for lunch. My wife and I each got the Thai Sweet & Sour Stir Fry; the other two are not vegan so I shall omit their fare. Succinctly, it was delicious. At first we were trying to order the Green Curry, but the very friendly waiter checked with the kitchen and came back to let us know that it was not vegan. They do not have a lot of vegan choices, but what they have is great tasting. The prices, at least for lunch, are quit reasonable, particularly for the sufficient portion size; four entrees cost around $50.

Pros: Tasty., Reasonable value.

Cons: Not a lot of vegan choices, Paid parking.

Unable to veganize

Unfortunately, as of our visit, they had very little available to parse together a vegan meal. Perhaps kitchen practices and/or management has changed since previous reviews, but after checking in with the kitchen, our (very kind & helpful) server reported that they were unable to do any of the Thai dishes without fish oil/sauce, and there are no veggie-only sushi options on the menu. We were able to combine a few appetizers, but most everything we had was heavily fried with little to no vegetables included. Also not sure about potential cross-contamination in the kitchen, as both my husband and I had a hard time digesting.

We ended up having veggie gyoza, spring rolls (fried, not fresh), fried tofu, and vegetable soup. Probably won’t hit this place up on our next visit. Our meat-eating family member seemed to enjoy her meal.

Pros: Very kind and pleasant service

Cons: Scant vegan options , Little to no fresh food for vegans

Menu isn't marked but our server helped, no mock meats

For a non-veg place, we had a great experience at this restaurant. I asked our server if she was familar with veganism and that she used to be vegan. She assured us that the kitchen staff would be able to handle it. When we saw the check we could see that she clearly marked every item we ordered as vegan.

This restaurant may have had seitan and other mock meats before as some reviews have mentioned but they no longer do.

We had Miso Soup, Vegetable Sushi, Golden Tofu, Tempura Vegetables, Pineapple Fried Rice with Tofu, and Pad Thai with Vegetables and Tofu.

The food was all fantastic. The service was great.

The only reasons I am not giving a higher rating is that they serve meat and the menu isn't marked at all for veg options. I have very little confidence that I could consistently get the same experience here.

Let them know you are vegan for yummy options

I ate dinner here on a Tuesday night. Having read recent reviews on Happy Cow with selection recommendations and responses warning of non-vegan ingredients in some dishes, I made sure to ask the server about ingredients to make sure what I ordered would indeed be vegan. The server went back to the kitchen twice to verify ingredients for me (and was very pleasant about it). He confirmed that:

1) the mock duck curry contains half & half and cannot be made vegan;

2) most stir-fry dishes CAN be made vegan if specified.

I ordered the mock duck Thai basil dinner. At just under $17, it was the priciest vegan option available. It was DELICIOUS. The crisp texture of the seitan coupled with its infused, hearty flavor were terrific, and the vegetables were perfectly stir-fried, brilliantly colorful with a tantalizing crunchy texture. A lovely special-occasion meal with a bit left for lunch the next day.

Pros: Mock duck, chic atmosphere, accommodating waitstaff

Cons: unusual use of dairy in curry sauce, a bit pricey, parking

Liked it a lot

Arrived shortly before closing and they were still happy to seat us, friendly and accomodating rather than begrudgingly. Liked everything we ordered, especially the dessert, and were happy with the choices of vegetarian options.

Pros: Great taste , Number of veggie options , Friendly staff

Cons: Expensive

When we want nice food in a nice place...

We used to go to Pad Thai in Fairlawn, but that place is terrible now. We tried Cilantro and it was like the clouds parting and angels descending. It was like God was rubbing my tummy.

But seriously, the food is outstanding. Make a reservation or you'll be sitting a while waiting (sometimes, especially Sundays). The location is a former bank that strangely was the epicenter of the early 80s Akron Punk/New Wave scene. You'd never know it.

Get the Mock Duck Curry. It's delicious. I'd give this place a 6 cows rating for that dish alone, but they do serve animals.

Pros: Excellent vegan food options, generous portions, nice atmosphere

Cons: parking, slightly pricey, sometimes long waits for tables

I think the curries all have half and half and the stir fry sauces contain oyster. I've been told stir fries can be made vegan if requested though.

Lots of vegetarian options!

The service is wonderful. Great menu. Veggie items are hit or miss. The veggie tempura with dipping sauce was just okay. But the Mock Duck Curry is to die for...SO GOOD! They are vegetarian friendly and the food tastes fresh and healthy. So definitely worth checking out!

Pros: Great service, Good food

GREAT VEGAN OPTIONS, A must try!!

Server was from Thailand and very informative on the menu. For the first time in a long time we found a server that understood what vegan was!!
He was Vegetarian!
We had the Mock Duck Thai basil and the Tofu Rama! Both were amazing and incredibly flavorful!
It felt like we had a very gourmet meal!
Sizable portions priced appropriately for what you get! A must try if you're vegan or vegetarian and visiting Akron!
We spoke with the owner and we are very impressed with his professionalism, everyone there was very nice

Pros: great vegan food, vegan desert as well

Cons: none

Weird Server, sushi not creative

I've been here a few times and for some reason have had the same super weird waiter each time. He's mid 20s with dark hair, and this dude thinks he is hilarious or something. He tries to joke and is downright offensive, and when I ask about veg ingredients, he's completely clueless. I don't trust him at all to know what's in the food. We have literally stood outside the window and looked to see if he was working, because he is intolerable.

On to the food. The mock duck is amazing. The Thai food is amazing. But they are severely lacking in the sushi department. And I have gone there because I miss good sushi since moving to this area. They don't have creative veggie sushi rolls, and at every other sushi place in my life, I have been able to create a roll that's not on the menu. Oh, you have tempura veggies? Oh, you have rice? Put them together and make me a tempura roll. Works everywhere put here. I have been told by creepy waiter AND the manager that they can't make special rolls. Sooooo....I don't understand why this is so hard. But I guess they will have to understand why I won't be back. It's not that hard.

In all, food is pretty good, but all the BS surrounding it makes this a pretty unenjoyable experience.

Pros: Mock duck, Good Thai food, Good taste

Cons: Creepy weirdo server, Unimaginative sushi rolls, Won't make rolls not on menu

HAVE THE MOCK DUCK CURRY!

The mock duck curry is wonderful. Worth going out of your way.

Big beautiful restaurant (formerly a massive bank) & great staff.

Fabulous cocktails, too. Their pear vodka & lychee sake Martini is one of the best tipples I've had anywhere in the world!

Pros: Serves mock duck!, Great vegan options, Lovely place

Cons: Might have to pay for parking or walk

Good Thai Food

I took a couple of people here during a business trip and everyone enjoyed it. Many vegetarian options on the menu and they can substitute tofu for meat in many dishes. The papaya salad was very good and they actually made it as spicy as requested, so beware! It was too spicy for one person.

I had a tofu stir fry with basil for the entree and enjoyed it too. Generous amounts of food - no one had room for dessert. The atmosphere is kind of upscale casual - definitely more formal than a lot of Thai places but no problem to go in shorts and a t-shirt.

Good, quick, friendly service. If I'm in Akron again I'll certainly consider going here.

Pros: Many Veg Options, Good Service

Cons: None
