I had no idea what this item was or what to expect. The guy serving is happy to give samples to see if you like it. I had the lightly spiced version. I dont particularly like sun dried tomato flavour so its not really a taste profile I enjoy. I would have loved some fresh tomato, cucumber, herbs in my wrap to balance the strong flavour.

Read moreWe basically had the whole place to our selves. There was sitting next door, we actually sat next to him and ate. This guy was the real deal. Loud, smiling and everyone knew who he was. A local celebrity. He has a fantastic tasting product. We got with no spice (because we are rookies) and it was still very spicy to us. Highly recommend this guys shop. We went early and I recommend you do too.

This was the first çiğköfteci that I went to, and it was ultimately actually not quite as good as some of the others. I think the difference was the fresh herbs that were not used here (other places may use fresh mint or other herbs; here you just get lettuce).
Read moreIt's worth understanding that çiğköfte restaurants are ubiquitous in Turkey, and the basic çiğköfte wrap is normally vegan everywhere. Historically it was made with meat, but the health authorities banned the meat version on food safety grounds, leaving only the vegan variant. This particular restaurant is heavily reviewed on HappyCow because of its central location and enthusiastic chef, but you can find extremely similar inexpensive, quick, vegan çiğköfte outlets elsewhere in Istanbul and Turkey.

Read moreCigkofteci are a tasty wrap we discovered in Turkey and keep going back to. This one is not the tastiest, but it'd very good, cheap, and the man at the counter is an entertainer for sure. He's worth a visit just to experience his service.
The staff was also super friendly.

Delicious wrap (Durum) for 70 Tl at the time of posting. Lovely staff and the main man who makes it. Traditions are followed as you are given a sample in lettuce before he wraps yours so you can check your desired spice level. Enjoy!!

I was waiting in line doubting a lot as it was a queue of only locals and the place was just a shop window with a person preparing a wrap of an unknown dough. I asked the people in line and the seller, and they all assured it was vegan (bulgur dough with pomegranate syrup, spices, lettuce and lemon). The only non vegan thing in the place is the ayran to drink. I asked for the non-spicy option, which was still spicy, and it was very good.

Even though there was a big queue when I arrived, I waited less than 5 minutes to get my food. Çiğköfte durum was very tasty, I ordered it to go and enjoyed it down at the port with a nice view of the city (less than 5min walk).

I wasn’t a fan of the food but it was cheap and the owner gave me a free sample before ordering the spicy option without trying a free sample first, so I got some extra free food which was cool. The sauce on the wrap makes the whole meal a little too salty and sweet at the same time

Spicy Cold Wrap - Edit
This place serves wraps with Ciskofta (think cold spicy mush with pomegranate syrup) in a durum with iceberg lettuce. In 2024 100 lira for a mega, and 60 lira for a regular. The mega is pretty large - easily enough for a big rat. Tasty, though may not be too everyone's liking. Chef offers a free taste before you buy, so no complaints if you don't like it!
