Great choice - Edit
All of their vegan items are grouped together so it makes picking what to eat much easier. That being said, there is a lot of choice so narrowing down the options can be tricky! We had the 'chicken' drumsticks and chilli lotus root to start (could have eaten both dishes all night), mapo tofu, crispy chow mein, and beancurd rolls with rice. It was all good, but I will definitely come back to try other things on the menu including the dim sum.

This place has a double page spread in their menu of vegan options. So many tasty things to choose from. The chow mein and salt and chilli chips were my personal favourites out of everything we ordered.

Great Place - Edit
Classic China Town restaurant (bit of a Birmingham institution) with a large vegan menu which includes plenty of vegan takes on typical dishes. We’re suckers for the crispy chilli ‘beef’ in particular. Good value, and you’ll not leave hungry with the portion sizes. Close to New Street station, the Bullring, and China Town/ the gay quarter/ Hippodrome.

Excellent vegan Cantonese food - Edit
Visited for a birthday meal, across the table we tried most of the vegan mains - all very good.
Read moreKnown for their dim sum which are also great.
Staff are friendly and well-versed in vegan offerings.
Only complaint: toilets are tiny relative to the size of the restaurant. Clean though.
Pros: Vast amount of well-executed vegan options, Friendly and knowledgeable staff, Fairly priced
Cons: Small (but clean) toilets, No vegan desserts

So much choice - Edit
A full double page of the menu is a dedicated vegan menu with all the traditional style dishes.
Read moreA vegan Yuk Sung for starters was a pleasant surprise.
The Laziji vegan chicken was nice but had a few too many chilli skins left on the dish.
Vegan aubergine garlic chilli was tasty and came on a sizzling plate which was nice.
Rice and chilli salt chips were both tasty and a nice compliment to the meal.

OK but.... - Edit
First, it's fabulous to have so much choice on the menu. Absolutely loved the vegan salt and chilli ch*ckn wings, would easily have fed 2 people!
Read moreUnfortunately the main course is the reason I didn't give 4 stars. Went for the black bean aubergine and tofu chow mein but it was far too greasy and sat in a pool of oil. Bad menu choice for me and hate wasting food as I only ate a few forkfuls, but other dishes being ordered in the restaurant looked lovely.
So OK, but thank goodness for the size of my starter portion!
Pros: So much vegan choice , Huge portions of food
Cons: Avoid the chow mein 😉

It is not often I go to a restaurant thesedays and am wracked with indecision due to the sheer choice available. The vegan menu at chung ying is massive, and all of it is fantastic.
Read moreI go at least once a month and I highly recommend it.
Favourites included the vegan duck and pancakes, vegan chicken wings, tofu satay ho fun, and the amazing sizzling aubergine in black bean sauce.
Their dim sum is also amazing, in fact they have just won an award for the best dumplings in the UK!
Speaking to the owners of chung ying they are keen to expand the already huge choice so get down there and stuff your face.
Pros: Lots of choice, Everything I've eaten is amazing , Great friendly service

The best! - Edit
There’s a massive choice for vegan mains, and the dim sum menu also has a variety of vegan options. Mains seem expensive at first but the portions are huge and always very tasty. Have also been for dim sum, which was amazing and the 20% on weekdays is a nice touch

Huge vegan menu with loads of options and the staff understand veganism, they even rushed over to take the prawn crackers off our table when they realised we had ordered all vegan food and apologised.

Best takeaway in Birmingham - Edit
My partner and I ordered from Chung Ying to celebrate our last day of the uni term. It ended up being the best takeaway we’ve had in Brum. The portions were great and the food was delicious—not too oily like some places! The tofu chunks were large and the satay sauce flavoursome! We shared some spring rolls and dumplings, which were also great.

Cons: A little pricy
