Pretty good

The lady at the register said the

Alu tiki cholay (w/out yogurt)
cholay bature

among many other dishes were vegan.
I ordered the cholay bature and the bread/pastry thing it came with was odd. Very tough and didn't taste fresh. The cholay (chickpea curry) was really delicious though. Full of flavor and lots of spices. It's decent indian food on Katy. Waiting till Udipi opens up again so I can go back to my fav Indian spot. This does it for now.

Great Place for Bombay Chat

Long term vegan - vegetarian and resident of houston (south indian antecedents) - chowpatty express was a pleasant surprise. The cuisine is authentic and differentiated. The service is minimalist - but the quality of the fare was excellent. Great option for vegans / vegetarians - especially those craving a spicy meal in the heart of beef country (hard to find good veg places in Katy) - their chikku shake is worth the trip

Pros: lots of options, Great taste, No compromise vegetarian/vegan

Cons: Maybe spicy for the american palate

Spicy

If you like spice then you will like this place. Very limited vegan choices. Maybe only 2-4 options out of 20 options.

The atmosphere was new and clean. The people seemed nice. I think the food was good if you like spicy but we asked for non-spicy and it was still heavy with pepper pounder in the dish. No fresh vegetables available.

Nice people though.
