great donuts/cake in gothic quarter - Edit
had an entire row of varied vegan cakes from vanilla, oreo, to chocolate. & another section for vegan chocolate filled donuts, plus other flavors! the worker was so nice. small shop but quick service.

Chok used to be all the rage 4 years ago. Not many places offered vegan sweets and the prices were reasonable.

Still I would consider eating their cronuts as a must for any vegan visiting Barcelona. Sinful croissant dough glazed as a chocolate donut with an array of toppings.
Definitely one of the most sinful spots in the city.

Fine Pastries, Sold Out of Cronuts - Edit
My search for plant-based pastries led me to Chok and I was excited to try some of their offerings, especially after seeing such high reviews for their baked goods.

I tried their Carrot Cake and Chocolate Muffins, each with its own creamy fillings, as well as a Chocolate Chip Cookie. The muffins were quite dry and the cookie crumbled too easily in addition to being super oily... my entire wax paper bag was drenched by the time I got home to indulge.
I was really looking forward to trying their Chocolate Cronut but they didn't have any in stock when I visited.
Overall, it was good to have the option to enjoy some vegan friendly treats, but it wasn't the home run that I was hoping they'd be.

Read moreThey had multiple vegan options, like cookies, mini cakes, muffins and brownies. The brownie was dense and rich. The chocolate flavour was intense but not overwhelming. It wasnt too much but didnt left you craving more, it was just perfect.

5 or 6 vegan donuts, clearly labeled. So rich and tasty. An excellent choice is you're a donut lover. For me it was quite heavy (as it should be) that I felt full for hours like a meal replacement! 😋

A cronut is a mix between a croissant and donut. Croissant taste in a donut shape. It was amazing. I got a chocolate one and think the ones with fruit would be even better to add a kick of tartness. I also got a pistachio mini cake. It was ok. I am not a fan of the pistachio cream texture. It tasted like whipped cream but a little thicker and it didn’t have a pistachio taste to me. The cake part was great.

Es un krönut (mezcla de croissant y donut) con covertura de chocolate negro, crema de chocolate con avellanas, bizcocho, crema de chocolate con avellanas y crocante de almendras.

Stumbled upon this and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the donut and had the shop keeper weigh in on the best vegan option. They pointed me to a chocolate baby cake with hazelnut cream and fresh berries. Yum! I’ve been eating it off and on for two days and it’s still delicious. Donut had a great flavor but was a bit stale.

At this location they have a bunch of vegan choices: at least 5 varieties of "Kronuts" and a few donuts too. I liked mine, but my friend said the pastry dough of her cronut was dry and chewey. The pistachio filling and the chocolate brownie fillings were super tasty!
