Tasty food and the owner has a fascinating story and lots of experience in the kitchen

Heya Happy Cow!

I ate at Chinese Whisper yesterday and wanted to leave a review! Spring rolls are a classic and I get them every time I go to a Chinese restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed and will be returning sometime soon.

I also enjoyed chatting with the owner (Reese). He's a charismatic guy with a fascinating story and I learned about his time cooking for an entire navy ship, his Chinese business partner and cofounder, and his time growing up in Arusha. It's cool to go to a restaurant where the owner works so close to the ground.

Pros: Spring rolls, Passion fruit drink, Owner is local

Cons: Some bugs by the window (Just Africa things)

The food was just ok.

Polite staff, nice and clean restaurant, and a reasonable price.

Pros: The veg fried rice was nice, The broccoli with garlic was nice, Nice restaurant and view of Mount Meru

Cons: They should bring out all the food together.

Very friendly staff, big portions, lots of options

The real highlight is the lunch special, where you choose an appetizer and a main dish, then choose rice or noodles. It's the cheapest and very filling.

We tried the crispy tofu, which has a lot of garlic (too much for my wife, but I loved it).
The spring rolls are good but not amazing.
The tofu & veg with black bean sauce is very good.
The kung pao vegetables were great.

Staff were friendly and could answer questions about vegan items.

Pros: Friendly, Cheap lunch special

Cons: Serves meat
