Everything Can Be Vegan - Edit

My wife and I were in Tulsa for a wedding reception and we decided to grab breakfast at Chimera before we left for home. We had checked their menu out ahead of time to see what our options were and came prepared. But then we got in line and saw the specials (vegan chicken and pancakes and biscuits and gravy). Then we saw that some of the pastries (donuts!) were labeled vegan. Then we realized every pastry was vegan. By the time we got to the counter to order we had changed from getting a healthy breakfast plate to getting American junk breakfast with four donuts to go. Then we were informed that everything on the menu could be made vegan. It was quite a surprise.

So everything is vegan, but is it good? So the donuts were all very good. They had some unique flavors like pineapple blood orange and blackberry lime. The donuts had a slightly different texture than I remember being typical to donuts, but they were some of the best I’ve had since going vegan. The biscuits and gravy were also very good and the first vegan gravy I’ve had that didn’t wasn’t mushroom gravy. It was very good. The chicken and pancakes was far too sweet, though. My wife and I split an order and I was barely able to finish my half. 10/10 for effort though and everything else was very good.

One last note: if you like coffee, Chimera has a wonderful selection of coffee and a knowledgable staff. I think they had 16 different roasts and 4 or 5 different brewing methods.

Pros: everything is veganizable, great coffee selection, donuts!

Tacos - Edit

They were super helpful showing me what I could eat as a Vegan and were able to make any of the tacos vegan. I had the dirty boots, tokyo eye, and a vanilla almond milk latte. The dirty boots was my favorite, but everything was great!

Amazing Tacos and Hipster Heavenly - Edit

My hometown is both a vegan and a taco powerhouse, but this downtown Tulsa chill lounge makes a veggie potato taco that rivals anything Austin has to offer. Smokey and savory, drizzled with vegan Ranch and served in an expertly warmed, moist corn tortilla. I also tried the Buffalo Cauliflower Bites which had (sadly) the standard overly vinegary Buffalo sauce people love (for some reason). Still, the cauliflower was so perfectly cooked, with a meaty texture, that I ate half of them. Chimera was worth the whole trip.

Pros: Many vegan options and lots of options for your un

Cons: Downtown Tulsa parking is a chore even on a weekni

Best restaurant in Tulsa! - Edit

Everything here is SO SO good. I can eat vegan and my husband doesn't have to, and we both leave happy. The cauliflower buffalo wings are to die for. And for brunch the vegan potato tacos are my absolute favorite.

Pros: Everything

Cons: Nothing

This place has INCREDIBLE vegan options. Some of the best vegan food I've ever had! Recently learned that they even prepare the vegan food in a 2nd/separate prep area! I highly recommend this place. The coffee and staff are just as incredible as the vegan food too!

Pros: Excellent food, Friendly staff, Lots of options

Cons: Dining space is limited when busy

Delicious Vegan Food - Edit

I have only been a vegan for 2 months or so now, but this is one of the only restaurants in the Tulsa area that serves vegan food. Their food is very fresh and delicious, and their portions are plenty. They also have a very large selection of beer, wine and mixed drinks. Ive been there twice now, once for brunch and once for dinner. I had one of their breakfast bowls and Lily's Salad. Both were amazing. The price is reasonable and the people who work there are friendly and knowledgable. Both times there was no trouble parking or getting a seat. I am looking forward to eating there a lot in the future because I want to try all their other vegan menu items.

Pros: Delicious Food, Large Portions, Friendly Staff

Cons: Music a little loud sometimes

What a pleasant surprise! - Edit

Found out about this place from downtown Tulsa's other vegan-friendly restaurant, Elote Cafe. Our dinner here was so good, we came back for breakfast the next morning. Really unique tacos with amazing, housemade fauxrizo and adzuki bacon. I think that was the best bacon I've ever had and my omni-partner agreed it was really good. The portions were generous; I left feeling very full both meals (we got 2 breakfast tacos each).

Nice selection of baked goods, more vegan than not and one raw item too. Very tasty and held up to travel later.

Pros: yummy, generous portions, great housemade plant-meats
