Best Vegan Restaurant in Tokyo - Edit
The intense taste the endearing service the variety and especially the home made plum wine. All these things have made me a fan in an instance. I will go here every evening I spend in tokyo for the rest of my stay.

Absolutely superb evening. Tried 5 of the dishes and was impressed each time, the fried veggie cakes with home made Worcestershire Sauce and seaweed broth take the top prize though.

Friendly, great food and sake - Edit
The staff are really friendly and accommodating. The food, which seemed typically Japanese and not at all westernised as we sometimes find in vegan places, is delicious and I was so eager to tuck in I completely forgot to take any photos. The sake was really good too, which probably contributed to the great atmosphere come to think of it.

Hard to tell form the front what the restaurant was, but what an amazing gem to visit. The host, Kohee was the coolest and explained that it was vegan restaurant and if that was ok…of course it is! The food was delicious and everything was hand made from the dressing to the Worcestershire sauce and t
Read moreIt was smackin’! They need to bottle the Worcestershire sauce and sell it. It was unreal. The food followed suit. He served a pearade that had alcohol as well with a non-alcohol version. both were incredible. The food was specialty and Chimaki, the owner/chef is a delight. I’m so glad we visited and will definitely retain any time we visit Japan. Don’t miss this place if you’re in Japan. It’s worth any mile you have to travel to eat .. I miss it already. ❤️❤️❤️

Fantastic Vegan Spot - Edit
The two gentlemen that run this establishment are top tier when it comes to their craft. They both were very nice and were accommodating. They explained the menu, offered recommendations, and made sure the meal was cooked to preferences. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone in Japan. If you are vegan or vegetarian, you would be doing yourself a disservice by not checking this place out. Five stars!

Best ever - Edit
Without doubt my favorite restaurant in Japan. Think “Midnight Diner” (from the Netflix series) but 100% vegan. Two guys behind the counter conjuring up all sorts of magic with vegetables. Super friendly. Tables for small groups - but you could easily turn up on your own and sit at the counter. A little out of the way - but well worth the detour. 30 mins by train from Tokyo station.

Authentic Tokyo but vegan! - Edit
Most vegetarians and vegans will know that Japan can be a very challenging place to find good places to eat - especially if you want to try out local dishes in authentic surroundings.
Read moreChimaki ticks all of the boxes. It’s a wonderful Izakaya not too far from the centre of Tokyo, located in a charming street that gives you the feel of being in “real” Tokyo. It offers an excellent range of authentic-style Japanese food from the extensive men, home-made fruit drinks (with or without alcohol) plus the usual wines and beers, as well as a range of sakes.
The owner was very warm and welcoming, and made every effort to speak to us in English. We left the restaurant extremely satisfied after having ordered seven dishes (two appetisers, three mains, a rice dish and a noodle dish) - for a very reasonable price of around 9,000¥ (about £45) including drinks, water, and cover charge/amuse bouche. To be perfectly honest this was probably a bit too much for two people but it was worth it just to get the chance to try it all.
I don’t believe you can book a table in any other way than by phone, but we just turned up and there was space for us. There are lots of a bars in the area so it would be easy enough to go for a drink if you need to wait for a table to become free.
I would thoroughly recommend Chimaki and I will definitely visit on my next visit to Tokyo 🇯🇵🍜😍
PS: Sorry I didn’t take any pictures of the food - I was so excited by it I tucked in too quickly!
Pros: Authentic Japanese feel , Great food , Welcoming host
Cons: Difficult to book

Staff clearly explained that they use honey in their potato salad (can be omitted), eggs in their tempura and white sugar in some dishes.
