They have at least 6 different kinds of hummus (jalapeño, roasted red pepper, avocado). You can get falafel sandwiches, salads, lentil soup, za’atar potato wedges. Everything is super fresh and tastes absolutely amazing! The green olive salad is just wow! It is cash-free though. They accept debit, credit and Apple Pay from what I noticed. Plus the people that work there are genuinely nice and welcoming.

Doesn't take cash. I wouldn't buy anything because I am conscious of my privacy. I don't need to share where I shop with my bank or the government. I am sure that people who are from, or have roots, from certain places in the world that have or have had repressive regimes would understand the value of privacy when it comes to one's financial affairs. Even with something simple like falafel.

There are video cameras recording you too...everywhere. Unless you plan to stay in the same spot without moving, I think you are okay to buy with a credit card here and there, unless you do not have a CC for the reasons you provided.

Literally the best falafel and hummus I’ve ever had. - Edit
I just left Ottawa and Chickpeas was a bit of a drive from my house but it was worth it every time! The black bean hummus sandwich and the mango hummus sandwich are both my favourites despite disliking mango, but the soup is awesome too. It’s a good, healthy place to eat at and good for kids too.

Awesome Falafel and Hummus - Edit
My partner and I went here yesterday and it was great. We both got the falafel sandwich with red pepper hummus and a side salad. Very tasty and good portions! They offer you to try out the hummus and falafel before you order too, which is helpful for people who can’t make up their minds like me. The atmosphere is clean and friendly. My one complaint is they use plastic cutlery which gets thrown out. They could use reusable stuff and wash it with their reusable cups. Otherwise, it was a great experience!

Having long avoided this traditionally vegan food
due to the lack of vegan establishments offering these dishes,
we were incredibly fortunate to have crossed paths with these people.
The food is excellent, very fresh and very, very tasty.
The people offering are extremely friendly and welcoming.
We departed with happy taste buds, tummies, & psyche.
Chickpeas is a must visit when in Ottawa!

I took the falafel waffle that was huge in terms of size! The taste was also good even if it was not the best falafel I had. My friend took the falafel as well and he was not disappointed by the taste and the portion. The food is fresh, the staff is friendly and price low for the quantity you get. Convenient place if you shop in the area.

Loved this place! We ate a hummus mix plate, a Go mango sandwich and a Chickpea salad. The sandwich was amazing and the mix plate was lots of fun! My favorite hummus was the mango and the black bean. I didnt like the salad but my husband really loved it. The falafels inside the sandwich were the best I have ever eaten!! Overall great experience, the staff was very nice and the concept very original! Its a small place but very nice.

The falafel is amazing! It had just the right amount of crunch and was not too oily.
My favorite was the mango hummus. It was very creamy.
The total for four of us was $38 and we have tons of hummus and salad leftover. For the quality and quantity the prices are amazing.
The restaurant was small but very hip looking. We can't wait to go back but next time we'll eat there and try the Fawaffle.

Read moreThe staff were extremely warm and welcoming. They informed us that all of their food is prepared fresh each morning (in-house) and what is not used by the end of the day is donated to the Ottawa Mission. It is also family run and 100% vegan!!!
The portions were just enough to fill us up and the atmosphere was very inviting. Not to mention the food was delicious! (By far the best falafel I've ever had) Will be returning again soon! We had a lovely time.
