CLOSED: Chick-O-Peas The Vegetarian Place

One of the nicest and friendliest places. Had the falafel wrap. It was really good, in fact went back twice.

We visited Chick-o-Peas twice and enjoyed it very much. The falafel and salad bar are worth the trip alone. It's an exceptional middle eastern salad bar, and everything we had there was yummy. I was particularly impressed by the falafel, which can easily be screwed up - but this one seemed to come right out of the middle east, and the recipe and crispness were both perfect. The fries are also really nice. Light and crispy, with all sorts of interesting choices for flavour. Finally, the service was friendly and the owner especially nice.

Cheap, tasty, healthy, and fast food. Most items are vegan or can be made vegan upon request. Food arrives quickly, but is healthy and fresh (not greasy, etc). I love their falafel as it tastes different from other falafel that I have had. Their signature french fries are great and you can usually find a coupon to get them for free with an order of other food in the East Bay Express. This is a quick place to go for lunch. I highly recommend it.

The place was very clean and had a nice, modern look. It's a small restaurant (maximum occupancy 20), but there are comfortable tables where you can sit and eat with friends. It is well ventilated--even though they're cooking up fries, it does not smell greasy in there.

I had just an order of fries to go--only a couple of bucks got me tasty skinny fries tossed in spicy jerk seasoning. They had some good-looking hummus and baba ganoush take-out containers in their deli section. Next time I'll get a falafel sandwich, too.

Wish this place had been there a couple of years ago when I lived in Berkeley and was going to school there--it's very close to campus.
