Pretty good vegan options! - Edit
I ordered the soy beef and broccoli to go, it comes with a choice of white or brown rice on the side as well ◡̈. The broccoli and sauce were very good but I personally did not like the soy meat they used for the soy beef. Very rubbery/chewy and had no flavor at all😡that kind of made me sad because it looked super promising. Overall not bad at all, definitely will come back!

so fresh! - Edit
Those vegan options are simply amazing!!! Seriously. I thought the "chickn" was real, at first. It's very juicy and fresh. The vegetables (broccoli, etc.) are so fresh. love this place.

Would give 5 stars if HC allowed it - Edit
I would give this place five stars if I were allowed, but I just learned HC won't let you unless it's a vegan only place? Boo...
Read moreThat being said, this place has been one of VERY few vegan-friendly eateries in the area we've been able to find, and it's the most vegan friendly I've found with an entire menu section devoted to the vegan options (and others with tofu in the rest of their menu).
I had the orange soy chicken (which was DEFINITELY our favorite) and he had the spicy amazing soy chicken, which was also really good (I loved the smokiness to the sauce). They are going essentially marinating soy curls, which is what many of the better vegan places used in my old city.
Hands down I WILL return! #Veganuary
Pros: A separate menu sections for vegan options, More than just tofu as a protein choice!!!

Meh - Edit
The hype for this place is real but I don't get it. Their fried tofu is gummy, their fake meats are gummy, and their spring rolls are coated in egg.
Read moreOverall dissatisfied by the price and food. The only good thing they have is their sauces.

Mediocre and flavorless - Edit
First my stomach hurts from the food. Anyways, I really appreciate the full vegetarian menu on the back. But the food was so flavorless and overall lackluster. Nothing special, gross texture.

wanted to love it - Edit
I was so psyched to get some good vegan Chinese food and thought this would be the place after reading the other reviews. I went to Chia Sen for lunch yesterday and was given the lunch menu for ordering. I was told that the spring roll included on the "vegetarian soy lunch menu" is made with egg and there are no substitutions. I ordered the soy chicken with broccoli which tasted like steamed textured vegetable protein with steamed broccoli. After waiting a while to ask for soy sauce, I heard someone at the front desk so I went over and asked for some. I then asked if I could see the dinner menu, and I am guessing that those items are much more tasty than the lunch I ordered. I would have definitely ordered off the dinner menu had I been aware, and I will try Chia Sen one more time and do just that. However, I also took out an order of Pad Thai for my husband, and he reported that there was not much flavor to the noodles and he was disappointed that there were no vegetables beyond the bean sprouts for topping. The food came out super quickly and I appreciated the complimentary pot of tea.

Friendly folks and good soy meat - Edit
Chia Sen is in kind of a strange location in a strip mall in South Portland. However, they have an extensive menu of vegetarian items. If you like soy meat, they offer many options that you would typically find on a Chinese menu with soy beef, pork, or chicken. The vegetarian options are clearly labeled on a separate section of the menu. I've only tried the soy beef and chicken, and I've enjoyed them both quite a lot (the 'chicken' is my personal favorite). The folks at Chia Sen are always friendly, and service is always quick. They have a full bar, and there is tons of easy parking right out front. If you are staying close to the airport in Portland, this is always a good option for dinner.

This place is amazing! - Edit
Very, very good soymeat dishes. The texture is good, the flavor is amazing. Try the "Orange Chicken" or the "General Tso's". We've eaten there 3 times now and each time it has been excellent.
