Good exotic vegan food - Edit

"Chamkar" means Garden in Cambodian, when you dine in the restaurant you surround by the many plants, the place is beautiful.
I like the food here, but not so many options and mostly is curry, if you like curry you must come and try.
The curry is mild flavor, not like Indian have lots of spices, not as spicy as Thai, it tastes light and little sweet.
My favorite dish would be the rice noodles ones, it’s more flavorful and more interesting, I like the aroma from the lemongrass, and it taste sweets from the palm sugar, little spicy due to the green chillis, the rice noodles are chewy with fresh organic vegetables to form a different layered texture, it tastes really good.

Pros: Nice atomsphere , Delicious

Cons: Not so many choices

chamkar - Edit

i made a reservation through their facebook page, as i'd read elsewhere that they only on weekends. thankfully it wasn't true.

we were the only diners at 2 pm and chose from a lunch set menu, plus a salad to share. i've not tried cambodian food before and it was delicious, light and not as spicy and pungent as thai dishes. they also have a tea set which is great value.

tranquil ambience, perfect for an unhurried chat. patient, friendly, english-speaking staff member who knows the menu well. vegan items are marked on menu.

nearest mrt: zhishan, followed by a 20-minute walk. if you're coming from central taipei, it would be faster and more convenient to take a bus and stop at "lan ya junior high school". google directions have been pretty accurate.

Pros: great ambience, friendly staff

It's not a totally vegan restaurant - Edit

Chamkar is a Cambodian style vegetarian restaurant. They served vegetarian(locto) and vegan dishes.

Mon-Fri reservations required, and only the set menu is available.
Sat-Sun, you can order the dishes you want from the menu.

I ordered two vegan sets (including two appetizers, two entrees with brown rice, dessert and tea). It is fresh and natural, really nice taste. But I think the portion is a little small.

Pros: Nice atmosphere, Organic vegetable, delicious food

Cons: unfriendly price
