We weren’t quite sure what to expect when we booked hotel and dinner here but we were assured they could cater for vegans.
Read moreIt was dairy milk in our room but room service brought up a fresh jug of oat milk for the fridge after we phoned down. The first night we had a delicious salad on room service.
After a shaky start at breakfast (they’d run out of vegan sausages which were swapped out for spinach and extra hash browns) we had doubts what would happen at dinner that night.
Management then went above and beyond. They left a note under our door apologising and assuring us us they’d get a new supply. They provided a copy of their seasonal vegan menu with plenty of options.
The food at dinner was delicious with an incredible combination of flavours. Service was excellent and simple but usually overlooked things like remembering to bring spread instead of butter and serving vegan petite fours with the coffee was a great touch and made us feel valued. The restaurant manager was particularly friendly and attentive.
Although it’s fine dining and upmarket, the ambiance is relaxed, unpretentious and very friendly with good humour between staff and guests.
We ended up booking a second night for dinner which was equally good.
In our experience it’s quite rare to find these sort of old halls being so accommodating and knowledgeable about vegan requirements. It’s not cheap but if you want a bit of luxury safe in the knowledge you’re not compromising your values then this is a great choice.
