Excellent Indian food - Edit
Menu is clearly marked vegan and the staff are very helpful. Restaurant looks amazing inside. Had the chana masala and the tofu spinach curry - both were amazing. Good option.

Like in India - Edit
My indian friend says food here is like going home. Food is delicious, place nice and clean. But why haven't they got vegan naan I wonder? I'm also dreaming of vegan lassi. It would be quite easy to do... Friendly staff speaks English and some Finnish.

Nice food, kindly staff - Edit
We had a really good food here. The staff is super friendly and they even made the food a bit less spicy for us. They have many vegan options on the menu which are marked clearly.

Excellent quality - Edit
The food is very good, I returned the next day to eat there again. All the vegan options (there are plenty) are clearly labelled on the menu. Service was very respectful, professional and knowledgable about vegan food. The interior is not tacky, as I've experienced it in other restaurants serving Indian cuisine. Overall, highly recommend this place.

Choice! And tasty - Edit
I have been to visit chakra with my mother and ordered many (too many) deliveries for myself and omnivore friends. There’s a choice of vegan food, even one on the chef’s specials menu. Food is great, spices are delivered from India and whilst I have never had authentic Indian food in India, I have had many bad curry’s, the dishes at chakra are full of flavours and exciting. My mum and my friends always get fed vegan when I am paying and they all loved the food!

Amazing date place - Edit
I was on a date with my partner. We both found a lot of options, we both are lactose intolerant and I am also gluten intolerant. But partner is not vegan. And still this place had a lot of options for both of us. Found was amazing, staff was super friendly. The place is located in the backyard of old building, which looks like a castle. I will highly recommend this place, especially for dates as it creates romantic atmosphere!

The menu was very clear about the vegan dishes and what could be made vegan. The food is very delicious, friendly staff and the place is very cozy! I had a lovely dinner there. Would be perfect if they were vegan!

Lovely dinner, great vibe and vegan options - Edit
Went on a Saturday night without a booking but they still seated us in the bar area. Service was great, super easy to work out the menu - some veggie dishes are marked as lactose free or can be - and the food was delicious! Also great value, we paid 30 euro for dinner, starters and beers.

Better the first time! - Edit
I went here twice and the first time was definitely nicer than the second time.
Read moreThe yellow daal was good. However the sauce of the curry I chose had far too much sugar in it for my liking.
The vegan paratha was really good.
To avoid excessive ordering, please note that a huge plate of white rice is provided with all the vegan and veggie curries. When I had the paratha I had to pay in addition, I just chose not to take the rice. The house salad is also humongous!
There was no soap in either of the toilets. The dispenser was completely empty in both, which was a little disconcerting. (They lent me theirs from the kitchen and told me they would be filling the the other ones up)
Service was ok, but not as awesome as in the two vegan restaurants in old Tallinn where I found them all just lovely!

upmarket Indian restaurant - Edit
Dal and curry were excellent - rich and flavourful. The waiter was very helpful as to what vegan meant and which items we could eat.
Read moreAlthough we specified everything vegan please, the samosa we had for starter came out with three sauces, one of which was yoghurt based. We didn’t eat that one, but it was a little odd they served it to us anyway, would have preferred they didn’t as it just went to waste (while still contributing to demand in the product, know what I mean?). That’s just me nitpicking though.
The best Indian food we’ve had in ages!
Pros: knowledgable friendly staff, nice seating in the courtyard, delicious curry

Absolutely amazing - Edit
Told the server I was vegan and they were very accommodating, my boyfriend (who is Indian) said it was one of the best Indian meals he’d ever had. We sat outside but the inside was very cool. Would definitely go back.

I really enjoyed my vegan meal in the restaurant. My non-vegan friends also loved their food. The service was friendly and fun. Didn't need to do a reservation on Friday night, which was great.

Classic vegetarian (non-South) Indian dishes. Our server was very friendly, helpful, and familiar with veganism, and the menu had labels for items that were or could be dairy free, including the naan.

Yum to vegan Indian food! - Edit
I love Indian food, and I always get bummed when places don't have vegan options, since it's soooo easy to make Indian food vegan friendly. This place sure delivered! The flavors were amazing, the staff was fantastic. A bit pricey for Tallinn but it's in the old city, so it's not a surprise. Def worth a visit

The Best Indian Cuisine in Tallinn - Edit
Chakra was a relatively new name for me in Tallinn, but on the basis of my experience I am well impressed with the restaurant. Chakra definitely challenges my earlier favorite Elevant in the market of vegan-friendly Indian food in Tallinn!
Read moreThe staff was helpful when inquiring about the vegan options, and I got myself lentil soup and shared a basket of different Indian breads (delicious, must say). The menu is rich in plant-based options, and especially the curries seemed tempting.
In comparison to Elevant, I liked the atmosphere in Chakra somehow better. The music and decor was more authentic, and the location in a basement was cozy in the evening. I am also looking forward to test the terrace area in the summer. :)
Pros: Vegan-friendly, Good variety of options, Atmosphere
Cons: Hidden location, Often needs a reservation, Bread not included

Above average Indian restaurant - Edit
Have eaten here on many occasions. It's an up class Indian restaurant. Maybe a bit more expensive than average in Tallinn. The place has never been full so service has been relatively fast, or let's say that the kitchen is fast but the waiters not, but they all speak English which is nice.
Read moreThey have a few vegan dishes, but none of them are very hot(they have a rating of 1-3 for hotness, and the hottest vegan dish is marked with 2 chillies). I mentioned about this last time, and maybe they can make it hotter for you if you ask.
I have never had any complaints about the food nor about anything else at this place. Like it when I still ate meat and I like it now as a vegan.
And yes, no vegan desserts as far as I rember also.
The curries and the briyani was good.
Pros: Taste, Atmosphere, Clean and everything works
Cons: Price

Yes, we will be back! - Edit
Now on the regular list when visiting Tallinn.
Read moreWhen the basics such as Papadams and Raita are something that you begin to discuss and appreciate when food starts to arrive at the table, we consider it a sign that we clearly enjoy the food. Then add to this three simple yet tasty items, Plum jam, Mint and Chilli sauce, not ordered or on the menu, but provided to nicely accompany the meal, it's easy to forget to mention the rest of what we enjoyed. After this visit we left very satisfied and can recommend the Vegetable Samosa, Channa Masala and Chakras Shahi Panneer.
The restaurant is in the Old Town of Tallinn in a cosy (and warm in cooler months) location that is relaxed yet fancy at the same time. Dress casual or dress up and you will feel comfortable.
Left feeling so full. Just couldn't stop eating.
Pros: Tasty food., Friendly service.
Cons: Be patient. Food will be worth the wait.
