Terrible main, passively rude ‘waiter’. Avoid. Go to Greenwich one instead.

We’ve been to the one in Greenwich which was really nice and the food was very tasty.
So we thought this one would be worth a try as we were nearby. BIG MISTAKE. The ‘waiter’ obviously didn’t want us there, maybe we didn’t have the right look or weren’t young females?!??? (He was all smiles with two young women who came in after us, didn’t rush them or was he offhand with them 🙄 ). Not sure what his problem was. To be fair the starter was really nice (samosa) but we both ordered the vegetable biriyani….overcooked rice and vegetables with a tasteless yellow dahl and side salad. Nasty. I couldn’t eat much of mine so left most of it. My partner only finished his because he was very hungry after walking all day. I could’ve accepted the bad attitude if had been nice.
They only take cash and the ‘waiter’ said our bill was £30 after pretending to add it up from some scribbles on an old paper bag. When we got home we’re pretty sure he overcharged us. We’ll never know cos we never were given a bill.
Oh and the toilet was disgusting too.

Pros: Samosa starter, Music was nice

Cons: Horrible tasteless vegetable biriyani , Customer service? What’s that! 🫣, Dirty place and toilet

Hullaballoo

First time at Hullaballoo. Never experienced a Samosa exciting my taste buds like it did... one of the tastiest Samosa's I've ever had ... in my entire life!! Staff are warm, welcoming and extremely helpful. Generous portions, what can I say, left with a smile on my face.

Indian takeaway awesomeness

I ordered Veg Korma with Tofu, Onion Bhaji and Naan. The portion sizes were very generous (I have enough for leftovers!) and it was absolutely delicious! Really nice vegetables cooked perfectly in a really delicious creamy korma sauce. So happy to find an Indian takeaway with vegan korma, naan and onion bhaji!! It's such a shame I'm only visiting the area but I will definitely be ordering and trying other dishes when I'm here again.

Pros: Vegan options that are hard to find!, Super yummy, Generous portions

Cons: I don't live nearby!

Best Indian ever

This restaurant served the best Indian I've ever tasted, I've visited many times and all dishes are good and most available also as vegan dishes. They also have good selection of naan breads and serve chai tea. The restaurant is small but super cosy and staff is really friendly.

Pros: Lots of vegan dishes, Peshwari naan, Lovely staff

Cons: Deptford is bit far of to travel to just for food.

A gem!

My new favourite Indian restaurant. Very small place, with a great vibe and gorgeous decorations. The staff are so friendly and the food came out quickly, and tasted so brilliant! We had the samosas to start, which were some of the best I've had. Delicious korma with tofu and pashwari naan. I was full but still finished it. So so good!!

Located in a quiet neighborhood, this restaurant really surprised us. Without much around you get a super delicious meal at a very fair price.

Pros: Only vegan, Very good prices , Unspectacular - in a very positive way

Excellent experience and value

I was in London for the ATP tennis tournament at the O2. I wanted t avoid the food at the O2, and I was fortunate to find this spot via The Happy Cow. I wouldn't have found it otherwise.

Hullabaloo is located just off the Deptford High Street. It's a short walk from the Deptford Park DLR station. You can eat and make the roundtrip to and from the O2 in a couple of hours. The trip is well worth the effort. There is a range of healthy options prepared on site and as though the chef were going to eat the meal himself. The staff are courteous and helpful. I certainly appreciated suggestions on this, my first trip there. It won't be my last.

Lastly, consider leaving some time to check out the many stalls and grocery stores on the High Street. Lots of fruits and vegetables for healthy snacks.

UPDATE

I ate at Hullabaloo last Tuesday and Wednesday nights (13 and 14 Nov 18). Nothing has changed. The staff are friendly and the food is excellent.

Great little cafe

Small and cosy cafe. It’s not glamorous, but they’re really friendly and the walls are decorated with Bollywood posters. The menu has loads of vegan options and the food is really yummy and well presented. Plus it’s not outrageously expensive (£3.50 starter; £6 main.)

Pros: Lovely food, Mostly vegan

Creative and artful work from a kind chef

The main chef (Baloo) was outgoing and welcoming. His Michelin-star background was evident in his craft and the food was incredible. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Indian food, spicy or mild.

Best vegan curry

This place is a little gem.
As we walked in we were greeted like old friends (this was our very first time here!). Now, the place is small, but they know how to use it ;)
The menu is pretty extensive, but it’s clear and easy to find options to suit you. The waiting staff are prompt and polite.
The food came out really quickly. Recommendation for starter; samosas.
Recommendation for main; vegan tikka masala. Yum!
We chatted to the owner for a little bit before we left and he was just so wonderful, passionate and friendly.
Highly recommend. Even if you’re not in the area, make a special trip! Oh, and the prices are so reasonable.

Pros: Friendly staff with passion , Flavours and ingredients, Price is very, very reasonable

Cons: A bit small, limited seats for larger parties, Have to pay at the counter, so tipping is tricky, A bit of a walk from DLR

Great Indian

High quality Indian takeaway with amazing vegan options - I had the cashew cream tikka masala with tofu, and it was great. Also felt pretty healthy and not swimming in oil.

Super tasty and cheap too!

All veggie and vegan, no meat served. Staff are friendly and helpful, and cook up delicious curries in a pretty small kitchen. There are lots of options, you can have paneer, or tofu or just veg in your curry, and there are daily specials. Really good food, cheap and filling. Would definitely recommend.

Pros: Lots of vegan and veggie deliciousness , friendly, casual

Cons: very small restaurant, could be closer to my house!
