Student housing center of the Observatoire océanologique de Banyuls-sur-mer. Students and conference participants receive meals at the housing center‘s restaurant. They have vegan milk for breakfast and they can accommodate vegans upon request for lunch and dinner. Staff is extremely helpful and understands what vegan means.

I truly felt accommodated - Edit
As an aspiring academic and vegan, going to conferences makes me nervous because you have to eat the food of the conference venue and they don’t necessarily accommodate all diets (very well).
Read moreMy conference stay in Banyuls-sur-Mer was food-wise a very pleasant surprise. I indicated that I need vegan food when registering for the conference.
The staff at the restaurant of the housing center - where we had all lunches and several dinners - is extremely competent. They immediately remembered the vegan and gluten-free people from the first day on and I never received non-vegan food by accident. I could completely trust the staff (this is sadly not always the case at conferences!).
The food itself was ok - nothing special. Remarkable was, that there were proper desserts (not just a random whole fruit on a plate - they actually put some effort).
At the coffee breaks, they had separately packed vegan and gluten-free rice cakes.
Sadly not all meals were included in the conference and the vegan options in restaurants of Banyuls-sur-Mer are very limited.
Pros: Extremely competent staff!
Cons: Limited vegan options in the area
