Nice Effort, Poor Execution 😢

Stayed here for one night and had dinner, drinks, and breakfast. While I appreciate the effort to offer vegan options, the overall experience fell short. The dinner curry wasn’t very filling and lacked variety—mostly carrots, which were hard and undercooked, and the fried potato topping felt excessive and unnecessary. The menu was also a bit confusing, with “V” marked next to items that clearly had meat in them. At the coffee shop, I tried the hot chocolate and a vegan cookie—both were disappointing, with the hot chocolate lacking flavor and the cookie extremely hard. Breakfast the next morning was just okay, nothing memorable, and even something simple like an extra tortilla would have made it better. Overall, it’s nice they accommodate vegans, but the execution needs improvement.

Celajes at Hotel Belmar

I stayed at The Belmar and ate there every day, and they were very accommodating to the vegan diet. They also provided vegan food on a tour of their private forest. The quality of the food was excellent, and the taste was very flavorful. I never had a bad meal. The menu is very vegetarian-friendly focused, but I never had a problem with making modifications. Some staff did have trouble understanding between vegetarian and vegan, but I think that was partly a language barrier, and there was always another staff member available to help in those instances. It would have been great if they offered the soy protein options (which they offer at their brewery) during breakfast, but this wasn’t really necessary. I never had them serve me non-vegan food like the other reviewer mentioned, so they may have improved in this area. The property itself is beautiful and surrounded by nature.

No clue

Stayed at Hotel Belmar and it was a frustrating experience. We tried breakfast, lunch and dinner here. Menus are marked poorly with a simple 'V’ symbol denoting a veggie or vegan option available - however this was also next to fish options and often didn't make sense. The staff had little to no understanding of veganism despite knowing in advance our party of 5 had 3 vegans and assuring us of vegan options.

We had an array of problems and uncertainties about the food across the meals. We warned some of the bread isn't vegan (we were served this bread in a vegan option before being told only the cibatta was). Sometimes options were made vegan by removing several items (more expensive ones) and then having the extra bread added to the bill. We were also told the tortellini was vegan before saying we had allergies, this was double checked and turns out it wasn't. I would specifically say that you have allergies to eggs and milk, this probably won't be enough however. If you have allergies to these I would avoid all together! Service was also ridiculously slow considering the place wasn't busy at all.

After one evening meal 3 of the 5 of us had the tamal for dessert and were all sick in the night.

When the food did come and it was vegan(?...) it was okay. Nothing special and not worth the pricetags.

Also note that the onsite brewery uses isinglass (fish guts) to filter the beer so not vegetarian or vegan. Super disappointing.
