Has a separate play room to enter with cats for a fee. Cats are rescue cats and up for adoption. Open Wed-Sun 10:00am-5:00pm. Closed Mon-Tue.

Best Cat Cafe Ever! - Edit
I have been to a few cat cafes in different parts of the world, and the Catnap Cafe in Christchurch is by far the best. It is the only cat cafe on the South Island of New Zealand.
Read moreThe treats are all vegan and quite tasty, especially the coconut caramel cheezecake slice. An assortment of plant based milks are available at no extra cost (cow’s milk is an option for non-vegans).
Being affiliated with Cat Rescue Christchurch, they are doing some amazing work to help cats find their forever homes (we just adopted two cats from them). They are also helping many cats with special needs and medical issues.
I recommend booking an hour to visit with the cats while enjoying a tasty treat and beverage, however you can get food and drinks without booking a session. There’s a small seating area in the shop, and the baristas are great. They offer take away options as well. Who knows, you might even decide to adopt a cat or two!

Most places focus just on the cat aspect. But this place has great food as well. I got the donut and the calzone and they were 👌
Read moreBe careful cause the cats try to eat your food 😂 so cute! They are very playful too. There are lots of kittens and all stray and very well taken care of.
PS. You can also go there and just have something to eat without having to pay to go in the cat room.
Pros: All vegan, lots of options, cute kittens.
Cons: No toilet in site

Super friendly kitties and great food selection - Edit
The cats once you enter the room are so friendly and curious. It’s a really great atmosphere! The food is also amazing! I got a vegan blueberry muffin and a mushroom and lentil roll, both amazing! Just be very careful not to let the cats eat your food! These cats are the friendliest and most playful I have seen at a cat cafe before!

Catnap offers exclusively vegan food. They do offer cows milk for drinks but they also have coconut, soy and almond at no extra charge. The environment is friendly and the cats are great. Highly recommend. Plus they act as a giant foster home for cats through Cat Rescue Christchurch. They are a great cafe and a good cause to support!

Lovely café for vegan cat lovers - Edit
Ok so everything in the glass cabinet is vegan ! And super yummy also. And for 12$ you can enjoy your cakes and hot drinks while cuddling some cat. What do you want more ?

Hearing that CHCH was getting its very own cat cafe excited me a lot, and my excitement was very justified when I visited this stunning place! The staff were very friendly as we walked in and ordered some food and coffee before our booking with the cats. The interior is clean and simple and I loved the painting of the cats on the wall! The food and coffee was great and I was so happy with all the vegan options. The cat area was incredible and all the cats were adorable! (Oscar was my favourite ❤️) They’ve set it up perfectly to foster a great interaction between customers and cats yet still giving the cats space to play and breathe. I really want to go back and visit them again. Great job to the owners, this is just what CHCH needed!
